Jim Rockford,

Hip-hop left the 90s a long time ago.

His big hit came in 1989. There was plenty of violent rap by 1989.

Just a friend is a great karaoke song to do. I know almost the whole song, and it's always fun to hear everyone sing the chorus super loud and bad.

RIP Biz.

Biz Markie. You may know his friends: Agnes, Agatha, Jermaine, and Jack.

I think it was Heineken that revived his GOAT song around 2009 for a shite ton of commercials. RIP Biz Markie.

In honor, everyone go to your nearest bar room with a jukebox and play “Just a Friend” on continuous repeat.

Man I saw this. I am seriously a fan of Biz Markie. Just a friend is a classic. 57 is young, but he has always been on the heavy side. He really did seem like a down to earth guy.

If you grew up during the late 80 and early 90s you never listened to "Just a Friend"? Yeah it is hip hop, but its not gangster rap and it was a popular song.

What were you allowed to listen to? Its not like Biz was too short or someone like that.

Loved biz with the beastie boys.
There were some good stories of him in the Beastie Boys book.

My favorite was a time they invited Biz over to the studio to record on a track and Biz called them from the lobby downstairs to tell them he was getting on the elevator to come up.

They didn't see or hear from him again for 10 years.

Don't disrespect Biz by putting him in the same sentence as Owlie.
