man imo alot of it comes down to culture. If you like South LA culture...you would prolly hate the ruston area. Lots of great people up there but its two different worlds imo.

Your trashy arse family isn’t representative of the whole area. I’ve actually spent time and lived in different areas of the state. I’ve never understood this. The “culture” is relatively the same outside of the actual unique areas like New Orleans and some of the small communities in Southwest Louisiana. There is no discernible difference in “culture” between Shreveport and Baton Rouge and lake Charles and Ruston and Lafayette. If anything the trashy frickers in south Louisiana are more annoying

You have somewhat of a point with BR due to its melting pot status (from being the capitol of LA and LSU/Southern), but even Lake Charles has a noticeably different culture than Ruston. Hell, the accents are different. Adding Lafayette (my mortal enemy) makes you seem even more foolish. No other area outside of Nola has a more defined culture than Lafayette (and it's surrounding areas).

my family up there is 100% trashy you are right about that but i wasnt talking about them. I already know they suck and they are trashy as a mother fricker, atleast most of them.

so have i....and yea big difference in culture. thats fine if you disagree and like one more than the other. i personally like South LA much better but its fine if you dont. but its laughable you dont think there is a difference in culture in Ruston and Lafayette or a difference between port city and BR.

like i said...all good if you disagree, entitled to your opinion.

Not really, the large majority of the populace in all of those does the same exact shite. Is it slightly different? Sure I guess, but it’s 98% the same. A person from any of the 3 could move to any of the others and assimilate within like a week. The only big glaring difference would be catholic and Protestant but most people aren’t conservatively religious enough to affect their day to day life

as far as restaurants...i know i have eaten at a couple local places...is there not a lot of local establishments to go eat at?

Mingo's trying to do his best Lester Earl impression, and looking just as dumb. Outside of the occasional Chick Fil A for the kids, we eat at nothing but local places when we go out.

You're right and produced the list.
10-15 years ago your argument about Caddo and Bistineau would have been more than fair. It feels like that is where everyone's opinion for those lakes is centered. It cannot be overstated the work those Lake commissions for Caney, Bussy, and D'arbonne along with the LAWLF have done in the last 5-10 years. I'm glad they are getting the love they are nationally, and hope those that wrote them off within the state will open their eyes to what an amazing job has been done there.

I’d live in the Lafayette area. Or Ruston and be fine in either. The rest of the state generally sucks arse

In restaurants, that’s generally true, but that holds the same for the entire state.

I would not, however, live in your McMansion consumer debt neighborhood with community college graduates
