IS this EBR School District or EBR Parish Landmass?
If we are talking entire parish/all the districts..Gonna need to have a Chat with that other CHS and Zachary.
Don't think they would supplant Episcopal/Catholic/BR High...But if you want to talk about value as just being a plane jane public school, they are scored top 1 and 2 in state in test scores. And if you are an OT baller and can afford the private tuition, just save it and pay for their college.

Lee will focus on math and science right?
Yes, Lee's focus is on the things that matter. BRH's focus is on getting students useless liberal arts degrees, but they will be damn good at it.

Catholic and St. Joseph are not on the level with Baton Rouge High and Episcopal.
By which metric would you like to measure?
Average ACT Composite score -
EHS - 26.3
CHS - 26.2
BRHS - 25.3
SJA - 24.3
AP Courses offered:
BRHS - 26
CHS - 11 (CHS Students are eligible to take most SJA AP courses)
SJA - 21 (SJA students are eligible to take most CHS AP courses)
EHS - 20
Obviously, this doesn't tell the whole story. For instance, as it concerns standardized testing, BRHS's bell curve are more populated at the ends of the spectrum. They have a lot of students who score extremely high and a lot that score extremely low. Then you have cost considerations, BRHS is free if you can get in (but if you don't, you're stuck at a dreadful school.) EHS is by far the most expensive with SJA coming in a distance second followed by CHS.

Doesn't Dunham claim to have an average ACT score of 31? I thought I saw that on a billboard recently.

The 2014 data that was presented to the state has them at 24.2 average composite.

*Laughing to yourself at the obviously trashy family as you sit at public magnet school graduation, straight poor trash, not accomplished geniuses like you and yours. Shocked as they call their daughter's name and realize Tarkeitha/Isabella has a 34 on her ACT and a 4.3 GPA and is going to college on full scholarship. Avoid eye contact rest of evening.

I'm a Dutchtown guy as much as anyone from that area but STA kills it as the #1 HS in APSB
Gotta give credit where credit is due. It helps that the demographics for STA are more favorable for a high performance HS.
Dutchtown is certainly respectable and I believe they had over $12M in scholarships awarded to this year's senior class.

Lee High is a rapid riser. They simply need a few more years to be on the radar in order to attract more of the high performing students.
They can certainly be seen taking a few of the loosely affiliated SJA/Catholic types but the generational alumni for SJA/Catholic is too strong for Lee to hurt their enrollments in the long term.

I personally agree with you , but it is debatable and depends on your personal metrics.
As for BRMHS, I have friends who send their kids to Episcopal who are truly convinced that BRMHS is a Remedial war zone .It's not really on their radar because they would never consider a public school because that's where the " poors" go.
I went to Episcopal and grew up in the Garden District and always thought BRHS was just a school in the hood that happened to have a bunch of weird, smart asians and indians.
I took my SAT there and remember thinking how outdated everything looked, but I was so spoiled by Episcopal I guess, which had nicer facilities than a lot of colleges I toured.
It is a great school though and I would absolutely send my kids there if that was an option.

I grew up in Woodland Ridge and went to an Episcopalian Boarding school so I know-nobody does infrastructure like Episcopalians. They build impressive campuses. You should see BRMHS now though. They remodeled. Check out Lee too. It's a mind-blower for dudes our age. Lee's success is CRITICAL for our area.

I've heard that (about BRMHS).
And if I ever move back to Baton Rouge with kids, I would be 100% happy with my kids going there.
Isn't it really hard to get into BRMHS?
ETA:
Where is Lee now? Same place and bulldozed the old school or did they move?

I wouldn't classify it as hard if your kid is a high performer but there is a little bit of a crap shoot. I know of brilliant kids that didn't get in and got stuck at some bottom feeder public school for a year. BRHS is a great school but it does have some issues. For instance, about 70% of the student population is female and the school is starting see regression in male standardized testing score. Also, one of the big drawbacks, IMO, is the separation of top and bottom. Brilliant kids excel at BRHS and go on to big things. But a kid that is above-average may struggle and slip as the school is geared towards the ever top.
All four of the top schools have issues, though. Just depends on what which you wish to focus upon.

Same place; brand new buildings.
It's going take a little while for Lee to find its feet but its trending well.
