I don't do it, but have no issues with people that do. It's kind of endearing IMO.

It's a older generation southern thing. I hear it all day working in East Texas.

It’s just their version of Cher. If it is legit it doesn’t bother me a bit. If they are doing it trying to be cute it makes me aggravated. You can generally tell the difference.

It’s usually older women. I can’t imagine any male having a problem with it.

I like it when the older black women do it. It makes it seem like they care, even if they call everyone that.

If it's meant in an endearing way (like from an older person), I don't care. I almost like it.

I've heard it once or twice from a man (~20 years older than me) in a professional setting and it made me wonder if he was doing it intentionally to put me in my place or if he's just got no grasp on professional greetings. Either way I think he's a jerk and have gone out of my way to not deal with him.

Other women do this to me sometimes. If they're friends, it's fine. If they're acquaintances or strangers, it comes off as bitchy.

I usually reply with thank you darlin. Or say that’s so nice no one at home talks to me that way

The only thing like this that bothers me is "baby".

That one just weirds me out.

The older, African American female that works the Sunday afternoon window shift at the Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen located at 1301 Veterans Memorial Blvd calls me hon.

I appreciate it as it helps give me the full "experience"

My child in daycare came home and told me her friend "Pookie" is her boo.

My child is already a disappointment in my eyes.

Arsehole would probably be more fitting but it would be rude to say it to your face
