Yeah, I can't wait. I hated the long overcast winters when I moved here but I've morphed into a vampire over the years. Now it's the summers that bother me. Go figure.

This summer has been fantastic here in the South Sound. I don't mind the rain at all.

I'm glad you're enjoying it. It's killing me.

It's very dependent on microclimate in the PNW. Anywhere there's a western upslope, there's heavy precip, leading to temperate rainforest at the lower elevations, and glaciers at the higher eleveations. If you're in the rain shadow, it's sem-arid. My sis (no pics) lives east of the Olympic mountains, and they get about 20 inches of rain a year.

I hope it gets dreary again soon here (Seattle). It's barely rained all summer and it seems like we've been above 80 forever. I hate the summer anymore.

We had an amazing summer until late July, when fall arrived. Leaves are already falling off the cottonwood trees.

Sunniest summer in memory. But, I look forward to the fall rains, snow coming down the mountains and the quiet peace of winter.

You're speaking my language, Roger.

My wife is the same way. The first two winters she was here, she complained about the cold and rain.

Now she knows how to dress, and enjoys it. It doesn't rain all day, but it drizzles off and on. The sun comes through for a while and then it goes away. It's constantly changing. The low flying clouds in the mountains are cool to look at, too.

I don't think I've worn my heavy jacket at all the last two years, so it's been very temperate with no snow at all the last couple of years.

Yeah, the last winter with any significant snow was 2011/12. And that stayed on the ground for all of 4 days.

Think we had 35" last year, most of it in two events. I love the snow, missed it last year. The ski area had to close early.

In Portland, we got 8" in the February of 2014. I think that was the last time we got any measurable snow.

I looked it up a long time ago. When I first moved here I thought it sure did rain a bunch. I was surprised it rained more down here in the summer than anywhere else.

What New Orleans gets in one year is what we get in about 5 years. If we even get that.

I remember that snow storm. We were snowed in for about 3 days.

I wouldn't mind it except for the darkness. I wouldn't be able to handle it getting dark at 3 in the afternoon.
