Houma is the only correct answer but to ball out like a true Houma-sapien you gonna have to spend an extra 50 bucks.

If it was closer, I would say Fredericksburg TX or rent a cabin on the Frio. Canyon Lake is little bit closer.

If he does Friday - Monday then Fredericksburg is close enough. Drive there Friday, do something fun that night... all day Saturday and Sunday to do wine tours or whatever, then drive back Monday.

Why not? It's better than going to Hammond or Holly Beach.

You are prolly right. I have never been there but have not heard good things. I shouldn't judge.

It's a little late to be trying to plan something like this since it is Easter weekend and all

Hotels are cheap as shite during most holidays. People tend to spend them with family. I'm not sure about Easter travel, though. I've never done it.

Would be dope, but wife has to work on Friday. It is likely that we would be leaving on Saturday.

This time of the year is the best time to go. Plus there is water in the hill country combined with the Bluebonnets are in bloom. Fredericksburg Breweing Co beer garden is pretty legit spot on the strip.

The Myrtles in St Francisville is cool for a night but it would be pretty dull for a whole weekend. Maybe head up to Natchez on Sat?
I would look into staying at Butler Greenwood if you consider this. They have individual cabins. If you like hiking, you have a few options available and perfect weather to do it. There is a trail at the sports park that you can bike or hike, and it's not too bad. There are spots where you get down to the creek and chill out with nobody around.

You can go to Jackson, Memphis, Beaumont, Alexandria, Shreveport, or Port Arthur......all of them will make you appreciate Baton Rouge.

In all seriousness, you can get a weekend cabin on False River in New Roads. From there you can visit the Myrtles and enjoy the lake.

Probably correct. We aren't into gambling anyhow.

I have been to Vegas numerous times and have never really done anything more than slots.

go to greenville, SC. it's about a 10 hour drive.

buy a couple of new albums or download some podcasts to listen to.
leave friday morning early.
look up a good BBQ place to eat at in AL on the way.
look up a good place to eat in atlanta on friday night. either stay in atlanta or push on the extra 2 hours to greenville.
go downtown in greenville. see the big park with the waterfall, maybe go to a greenville drive game (minor league baseball, but heavily attended & very cool place to hang out and drink/watch).
have a couple of drinks and look up restaurants on urban spoon for the highly rated ones (there are plenty).
at night either find some live music or if you're open to new shite look up a contra dance on www.harvestmoonfolk.org. it's a square dance type thing that sounds really lame but is actually a lot of fun and heavily attended by college age and mid 20's type people (at least all the ones i went to were).
btw while you're in SC look up a SC BBQ joint with the mustard based BBQ sauce just to try it once.
next day two choices: charleston, seafood, hangout around town (i never did go and do this but i hear it's worth doing)
or get up early, book a guided fly fishing day with headwaters outfitters (or look up another outfitter if you so choose). enjoy the hell out of the drive from greenville to brevard because it is incredibly beautiful. miles and miles of switchbacks in the mountains, but gorgeous. only about 1:20 drive IIRC. the streams you'll fish in are likewise incredibly beautiful. visit brevard after you fish and head back to greenville for the night (or start the long drive home and find another spot to stay)
monday, drive home.

I've been thinking about a weekend getaway as well, but a couple of weeks away. I'm looking for somewhere between Baton Rouge and central / north Alabama.

There are some good ideas in this thread.

One of my favorite places, but she stays booked up and I'd be surprised if she has availability unless someone cancelled.
