Recommended transmission flush at 60,000 miles. I’m at 85,000 miles with no issues presently. I talked to a mechanic today. He strongly recommended not touching the transmission or changing fluid. He said I can do more harm than good. Seems to be a lot of different opinions on the subject. It has a CVT transmission. Anyone with knowledge know whether or not I should do a drain and fill, flush or nothing at all?

08 Altima here. My buddy was a director of a Nissan service department and told me to not drain and let it run it course.

That was 8 years ago. 220k and still going strong.

The 2013 and 2014 Altimas seem to be notorious for CVT problems. It’s rather impressive that you made it this far without changing the fluid.

I did a drain and fill at 110k on my wife's 2012. She got sammiched between two big SUV's at 111k.

I have a 2012. Transmission went out at around 50k.

Replaced under warranty. Still going over 200k.

I have never flushed it. Probably won’t.

Never flush those transmissions. Straight drain and re-fill. Nothing more.

He's not wrong. A lot of times the pressure from the fluid keeps the internals from failing.

Sell it. That CVT is going to fail.

I had a 14 Altima that I drove the wheels off of and it never even hiccupped. Granted it was 95% interstate cruising.

Consider the CVT replacement as an inevitable headache that you will have to handle either way.

My vote is to not change the fluid.
