Question re: The General Lee

That Bo Extravaganza thread had me wondering whatever happened to the General Lee. I know Bubba Watson bought it and said he was going to paint over the Confederate Battle Flag and replace with the American Flag but did that ever actually happen?

They changed the name to the Nipsey Hustle and sold it for scrap.

the only thing I can add is Waylon had car#3, from the show and he left it in his basement

I saw it driving around the city streets of NOLA a few years back

I'm pretty sure there wasn't just one General Lee, but several that were used for filming. And I think John Schneider owned one of them, but may have sold it to pay off some of this bills. But there is not just one car, they used several to film.

And they had several show cars at the least. I remember seeing one at a big car show in WI back when the show was on TV.

They had three show cars and a body shop that fixed up beaters to launch on the jumps. None of the jump cars ever made 2 back to back jumps without being “repaired”.

When I was a kid, I had some cousins that lived in Port Vincent. I was there visiting during the summer and we found an old General Lee abandoned in the woods just off of Hwy. 16 along the NW side of Waterson Street. It was maybe only about 15' off the road, but was pretty well hidden by thick underbrush and dense trees.
It looked like it had been sitting there untouched there for probably 10 years at least, and that had to have been 25-30 years ago.
Somebody should go poke around there and see if it's still there.

He bought one of four (I believe) that were left in tact from the show. Allegedly, one of the other original show cars is actually in Amite in a private collection.

Is it one of the original show cars?

I think there were 3-4 that were the ones used for the normal driving, and were pretty pristine. Then, I think there was a shitload of them that were junk, but painted exactly the same, that they used for stunt jumps and stuff like that. Those were all junk and probably what was getting recycled.

They were washed with just warm water, no soap, and no soaking.
FACT!

"The" General Lee? You do realize that every time that car made one of those jumps, the entire front end of the vehicle is destroyed and they would use another one. I don't know the count but they used a lot of different cars to play that part. According to IMDB, they used anywhere from 256 to 321 cars to play the part of "The" General Lee.
