Email the teacher, copy it to the principal and ask why she was so excited that your daughter wasn't there.

Do not do this lame, passive aggressive, bull shite. Best thing to do is nothing at all, but if you must, talk to the teacher in person or on the phone and make sure you know the whole story before creating unnecessary and ridiculous drama.

Geez man probably a joke, I had a quiet and respectful A student absent the other day and I jokingly said "glad she's not here, she's such a troublemaker". Some chuckled and some rolled their eyes, they all knew I was joking. Lighten up Francis.

I'm not even trying to handle it (again, daughter needs to learn to deal with things) ... just wondering if I'm the only one who thinks it's inappropriate.

And if my name was Francis, maybe I'd lighten up.

And some how foul, the kids know when you're joking and when you're not ... said teacher I'm told wasn't joking.

Did she just get into TAG? If not, and this is a weekly thing, then I'm sure that the teacher knew where she was beforehand. Maybe just goofing?

we need name of teacher, name of school and let the OT take care of this person. Your daughter will never be made fun of again

If in fact the teacher said/did the things you described and in doing so, indicated that he/she was glad that your daughter wasn't in class, then it is definitely inappropriate and unprofessional. The school admin. should know about this. My advice is to simply contact the principal/asst. principal and explain what you've been told. It will then be in the admin's hands to handle accordingly.

It used to be "Gifted and Talented" in my day. I guess GAT became politically incorrect.

And what would you suggest the admin do to handle accordingly?

Chuck personally I'd tell her to stop the diarrhea of the mouth ... Older kid is telling me she did the Same to kids on his class 3 years ago.

I'd just like her to know how unprofessional she is ... And that some things are just better left unsaid.

Exaggeration much? So what, not everyone in the world thinks your kid is perfect. Who really cares, she could have been joking for all you know. Was it T or B?

This is what happens when you don't pay teachers a living wage.

(I'm trying to take this thread in the direction it should go)

I'm more impressed that there's even a Gifted program at all where you live.
