I've got it in my house with a 1 year old and a lab. I would not do it again. Had laminate in my first house and not a scratch, but it was definitely cheaper looking. I do think this stuff was probably cheap (second owner), but it hasn't held up over the 4 years this house has been built. Some scratches are so deep that it cannot be refinished. I will either go with tile or real wood that can be refinished in the future if I have the choice.

I looked at doing nail-down, and I know that is a forever floor, but man, that stuff is a chore with a slab house.
Plus, I don't think our climate is too friendly to wood anyway.

I just put the wood tile in mine. More expensive to lay, but I wouldn't go any other route.

I'd say no when they factor in the durability and cleaning aspect. Some of the new porcelain and ceramics look pretty good to where it takes a second glance or good inspection of it to notice. But everybody has dislikes and likes of it. in the end, it's you that has to live with it.

I have had oak in my past two houses with zero problems from my dog. My buddy built a house with engineered floors and had a party the first night. Evidently some chick had a nail or something coming out of the heel of her shoes and the next morning, he had little divets all over his floors. From the ones that I've seen, they are softer than regular wood floors

I have hardwood. Dark. Wish I had those wood tiles though.

Bamboo is softer and easier to scratch. Engineered wood of any kind will scratch and gouge easy. Wood is wood it will get scratched and gouged really no way around it. Just make sure you keep at least a box or two after complete installation. You can always replaces individual pieces over time.

Our boxer tore our E hardwood floors up. 3 Gs wasted. If we ever own another slab on grade home again, I will stain the concrete or put down the ceramic tile that looks like hardwood. Dogs and hardwood will never mix.
