Question for the OT Army Vets: What’s the best Army duty station?

Elaborate if you will. Why is it good? What are the pros and cons?
TIA

Wherever the action is the best place. Go for the most challenging assignment in the most challenging places. That's the only way to set yourself apart from the pack.

I could never think of one for the 6 years I was in. Better in the air Force/navy

I was stationed in Germany in the 80’s. Can’t say what it’s like now but being stationed there in the 80’s was awesome. At least other than wondering if the Soviet 5th Shock Army was about to storm through the Fulda Gap any moment.

I’ve already been enlisted for 4 years. Going Officer via ROTC while in grad school. Best option for my family.

You gotta love Graf, especially in winter with blowing snow.

I've been stationed at Benning, Lewis (now JBLM), Gordon, Bliss, Polk, Canada, and now Hood. Any assignment is what you make of it. The post that my family enjoyed the most is Canada, although that was a unique assignment (exchange officer). Of the regular posts the one that offered the most to do was Lewis. Of all my duty assignments the ones that I enjoyed the most were at Bliss (company commander) and Polk (O/C).
If I could go back and do any job over again...O/C at JRTC all day long. I enjoyed the mission and the people around me. I learned so much in my 2 years as an O/C. JRTC supported any school opportunity that I wanted to go, which I have found to be rare as an officer. And plenty of opportunities to chase jumps if that is your thing.

The best would be a CONUS mobilization on TCS orders at a Reserve or Air NG station in the vicinity of a major city. AD pay and allowances, per diem, regular hours, PT on your own.

Presidio Monterey and Naval Post Grad school in Monterey CA was good.

Favorite CONUS post. Stayed here after getting out.

I thought about requesting Lewis as the first station. I know Polk is shitty but it’s about an hour from home so it wouldn’t be so bad.
I’d like to avoid Bragg and Campbell like the plague.

1A Schofield Barracks or Fort Shafter
1B Any assignment in Europe (Germany, Italy or Luxembourg)
ETA: I failed to rep for my own profession. Yes, Fort Sam Houston is a great place to be stationed.
