I didn't get much experience at others but my fav was Ft. Riley, Ks.

Junction City is near by. It has anything a married or single person could want.

Lots of history in the area.

Manhatten, Ks. not far away.

A couple of reservoirs nearby.

I was a TF OC from summer '08 until fall of '10...c/s B64 (FS division). After 22 rotations I went to Zulu land and did another 10 rotations there as Z60.

If you were in CSS then we definitely know some of the same folks...my neighbor was an iconic medic OC supporting TF1.

Fort Lewis. Before they dumped 100,000 additional people here starting in 2006.

JBLM in the 1990’s was a super nice place to be stationed.

Fort Gordon, GA. Augusta is a pretty neat town.

I can agree with this. Make sure you live on the southeast side and go in through gate 5. The gates off of Route 78 are painful to get through.

Any duty assignment is dependent on who you are with and what you make of it.

I had a great time in Dugway Proving Grounds even though there is nothing to do there. But we had cookouts almost every night after work. Salt Lake City and Vegas were every weekend.

I didn’t care for Ft. Polk at all. There just wasn’t much to do and you had to drive to Lake Charles or Alexandria for anything.

Ft Bragg, Benning and Campbell were good times to me.

I’ve always thought that Redstone Arsenal would’ve been a sweet assignment.

depends on a lot of things. Early in career as a single Soldier is different then when you are grown and have children as well as your hobbies. Hunting fishing = Alaska. Hawaii if you like to dive and sun all of the time. Lewis is you like the hiking and outdoors lifestyle. Bragg if you like to deploy. Fort Stewart stay away no matter how much people say Savannah is a great place. Not worth it. HAAF if you are lucky to be in BN or 160th. It’s much closer to Savannah! Fort Polk = expect your kids to be stupid for the two years you are there! Oh and lots of chiggers.

Stationed or visited at Benning more than I liked for schools, training and assignments but that is the cost of being in the Infantry.

My brother always talks about his time in Korea/Japan, and how he wished he could've gone back.

MDW Military District of Washington. Build up your rank there, than go overseas.
