My post was dripping with sarcasm.. and you didn't catch it? In what universe would that be a logical response to the OP? ETA: I take it back.. that probably is a legitimate response for half this damn country.

In this clown world, momos will say anything. See lesterearl. What next? People with dicks aren’t men?

Who makes that decision?

I think it is certainly a hard decision to make, which is why our police force needs more training and education requirements prior to service, and good policing needs to be celebrated as much as bad policing is condemned.

I can see how officers make mistakes in those decisions. And unfortunately, sometimes hindsight is 20/20. That sucks when a life is at stake.

What is unecessary?

As far as this goes, I think any situation where an unarmed civilian is shot or killed is unnecessary. Officer Chauvin's acts certainly seemed unnecessary to me.

What if an unarmed person is attempting to arm themselves? You can't just make these sweeping rules (my opinion). Every situation is unique and should be viewed as such.

Only once a cop has been shot is he permitted to return fire. And even then it's a slippery slope. Those are the rules.

The POC who call for protests (read: riots) when another POC is shot by a cop for criminal behavior?

Not a cop basher, but I think we can all agree that there effectively should be no state-sanctioned force that is free to go around killing people with no repercussions.

Nice straw man argument. There is no such thing as a state sanctioned force that is free to go around killing people with no repercussions in the US today.

If you evidence to the contrary, please link. Then check back later for a rebuttal.

Stupidest thing I’ve read on here today. So, if a psycho shoots 10 rounds at a cop and innocent people, a cop still can’t shoot? GTFO

I agree that there are exceptions to what I stated.

I think one of the most difficult aspects of these debates is that sometimes all we have is hindsight.

I'm not gonna act like I know exactly how cops should respond in all situations. At the same time, I still think it sucks when a life is lost unnecessarily. It's a difficult and complex problem. One that isn't going to be solved by partisan bickering, but usually that's all we get.

if that's how you truly feel then let the justice system hand out that sentence.

Let the justice system handle someone reaching for a weapon?

How's that work after you're shot and killed?

I am not for state sanctioned killing, the government should be held to a much higher standard, they have tools to subdue people without killing them.

People hate the government oh so much but seem to love the violent arm of the government that enforces all the BS that they hate so much.

That is completely irrelevant to your original question. You asked:

quote:

What would a person of color have to be doing for you to accept that a cop shooting them was the right thing to do?

So again, why would the color of the person have anything to do with whether or not I felt a cop was justified in a shooting?
