Are you a superintendent? I take it you've had problems with project managers before.

No. I'm, among other things, a subcontractor who has been in business since before CM was a curriculum. When I was a kid there were no project managers. Owner, an estimator and a jobsite Superintendent and that was about it. And a lot of good shite got built. I remember asking a superintendent who was pouring concrete at OLOL on the original building why he was pouring at night. He said son, this is South Louisiana and sooner or later it's gonna rain. And if it's not raining you better be pouring your concrete.

I know some very good PM guys and work very well with them. I also know a lot of dumbasses who really don't know what they are doing and that hurts all of the contractors on the site. And costs us all money.

I've heard of guys working for the heavy civil firms (the big ones) making very good money as "project engineers". But were talking $300m levee projects, and still nowhere near that salary.

I think the OP here was talking about he was a Civil Engineer, though.

exactly, Go work for a Super Major O&G company and here are titles they give to alot of colleagues with out engineering degrees:

Cost Engineer
Construction Engineer
Project Cost Estimating Engineer
Field Engineer
Benchmarking and Metrics Engineer
etc...

Crazy what they are paying college grads with CM degrees now out of school, most ones we hire make more that ME's and Chem E's out of school

No and if you put it on your business card and hand said business card to anyone you'd be subject to the full force of the law

Not bullshite, probably a lot of OT to get to that number though. The PM salary ranges that have been listed in this thread are a fricking joke.....

That would make sense. I was thinking strictly base salary pay.

I'm watching my Domestic Engineer (read-Mexican) push my Hoover over my carpet while I'm eating a bowl of Fruit Loops right now. She's a bit ahead of schedule so we aren't worried about liquidated damages.

I was making around that plus company truck, all gas paid, free medical for myself, plus weekend overtime and per diem as a project engineer with a CM degree before becoming a PM last year. That was with 7 years of experience.

PM's in the industrial sector make big money, but that's because they do big projects, with big margins, for extremely demanding clients.
