Is that half in Corpus Christie? If so, it could be a lot nicer

Yeah

I have a few reasons for staying here for the time being but this place is definitely very mediocre for the sized metro area it is.

Is it because you are a glutton for punishment?

Yes my first internship was in the field.

That's great. You gotta know the ingredients are before you bake a cake.

Good for you uno. Another word of advice: pay attention to your supers and figure out which ones actually know their shite. Become their friends and ask lots of questions. Get in the middle of it. Watch concrete placements. Watch how they do things, what they look for. Same goes for your subs. If you are halfway knowledgeable, it shouldn't take you long to figure who knows what they are doing. Learn from those guys.

You'll earn a lot of respect by asking smart questions and taking an interest in learning how your subs trades work. It'll benefit you in the long run.

Above all else, get out of the damn office as much as possible. If all you are doing is your PM's paperwork, look for another job.

I worked for a national company right out of college and traveled all over for three years.

I then took a job with a GC in BR.......absolutely the worst career decision I've ever made.

I have seen a 100% pay increase over 8 years. Promoted to PM at 5 years.

Yeah man, I loved getting out of the office this past summer. I can only stare at a computer for so long.
