What was your symptoms/issues that led to getting the surgery?

facial pressure/upper tooth pain
nasal obstruction
loss of smell

don't undergo sinus surgery for chronic drainage or headaches if you have a normal CT or your symptoms will likely continue

What I had. My septum was so bad hardly anything could drain leading to so much pressure in my face which lead to pain constantly. Had it done and its so much better now.

Near migraine headaches on a regular basis. Didn't feel rested after sleep. And had an xray technician tell me I didn't have one of my sinus cavities. Turns out it was 100% blocked and he was an idiot.

After an MRI, found out I had a deviated septum that looked like a train derailment even though it wasn't visible externally.

Had the surgery about 6 years ago and haven't had any issues since. Well worth it.

I had surgery for a deviated septum and other sinus issues in the summer of 2000. Recovery was horrible for about 3 days, but when they pulled the packing out after a week it was intense pain then immediate relief. My septum looked like a fish hook on the CT. Right side was severely blocked. They also cleaned up the turbinates at the time. Main symptoms were troubled breathing through my nose because of blocked airways.

Last May I had the UP3 procedure done and a tonsillectomy. Not sinus related, but I had moderate sleep apnea and had been getting tonsil stones, and they were pretty enlarged. That recovery was actually not as bad as the sinus surgery.

Was having as many as 9 sinus infections a year. Sinus drainage surgery failed. Had rhinoplasty and reduction of the turbinates (they were 5 times normal size) and now am almost infecrion free. I was almost 30 when I had the surgery so there is some permanent loss of sense of smell.

Symptoms alone poor indicator for sinus/nasal surgery. Need a thorough exam and endoscopy by an otolaryngologist and a CT scan.

I had all these until I started taking Singulair everyday and Nasacort when I felt any congestion coming.

I still have no sense of smell though

It was painful for a while.

Lots of bleeding.

Plus he doesn't really feel like he breathes any better after having it done.

I had a Septoplasty, not sinuplasty. 100% recommend the surgery. I had a severely deviated septum that was leading to some nagging sinus issues. Doc said that if he fixed the septum and reduced the turbinates then the sinus issues will take care of themselves. He was right and the recovery was not that bad. 3 days max. No packing or splints.

Snoring and continuous congestion led to me seeking treatment. Glad I did and got it fixed. I wished I had taken care of it years ago.

100% agree. Septoplasty for me. I still consider it the worst 4 weeks of my life. I popped my stitches 2 hours after surgery due to vomiting from anesthesia, so had to go back under again immediately. 2 weeks packed. 2 weeks splinted. So. Much. Gauze!

But I haven't had a sinus infection in a decade.

If they go through your gums, talk to your doctor about possible nerve damage.
