Question for OT dentists

I accidentally pulled a crown eating a piece of Reisen candy tonight. I'm out of town and won't be able to see my dentist until next week. I can place the crown back in its spot. Should I get a dental adhesive from a drugstore to hold the crown in place or should I not mess with it and avoid chewing on that side until next week? I don't want to mess up the tooth surface and would like my dentist to be able to reuse the same crown.

Go to a local dentist tomorrow.
You run the risk of infection that can get into your bloodstream.
You could wait but why take the chance?
Are you somewhere that there are no dentists?

You can get some temporary crown cement from the drugstore and put it on, your dentist should have no trouble getting it back off. If you’re really in a pinch you can even put a little toothpaste or Vaseline in the crown and it’ll stay in place decently well. Only put a small ring of cement around the inner rim of the crown, it doesn’t take much and too much will keep it from seating.
Try to scrape out the old cement before you put the new stuff in if you can.

I upvoted the gorilla glue, but really id just call your dentist. They should have an answering service and should call you back in a reasonable amount of time. If not I suggest you find a new dentist.

Is this crown between two other teeth? If so, just clean it a bit and put it back into place and don't eat any sticky candy again.
If it is the last tooth in the mouth, get some dentemp from the pharmacy and follow directions on the package. Don't put too much in the crown before cementing it in, it doesn't take much.
If you have crowns, it's probably not a good practice to eat sticky candy like riesens.

After doing this I quit eating Reisen
After doing it again eating Milk Duds I gave up eating caramel candy
It was a week before I could get into my dentist, I was fine
I had no pain or sensitivity, just didn’t chew on that side

Thanks for the advice. I'll run to a drugstore later today. Do I need to keep the crown moist until I put it back in place?

You’re fine. The prepped tooth is ok by itself for a few days it will just be sensitive.

what do you pay for the crown that you install on patients?

You need to keep it at body temperature in your saliva in your mouth or else it will reject your gums when you try to re insert it due to the tiny microscopic nerves that hold it all together. Its almost like a living organism.

Are you travelling for work? If so, that could be a work comp claim. Save you some $$ on the treatment costs. Full disclosure, I own a company that handles work related dental claims!

He admitted he was eating sticky candy. I own a business and despise your way of thinking. So insurance premiums go up for his company and he and others may miss a raise next year.

No, just keep it in a safe place.
