Effective at killing people but not well suited for self-defense? Did that make a lot of sense in that little brain of yours before you typed it?

Thanks buddy but I am capable of thinking for myself.
No, no you are not...

You said the Northeast isn't dangerous. That's just a flat out lie.
Let's list a few crime free cities in the NE:
Philly
Camden
Baltimore
DC
NYC
Boston
Hartford
Jersey City
Those are cities that you don't ever go to mostly, not suburbs like BR mostly is. And Hartford has like 25 murders a year...New Orleans is well over 100. Baton Rouge is over 50 per year. Crime up there is very contained to small (inner city) areas.
I am not trying to bash, but I never felt nearly threatened living in the suburbs up there like I do in BR, where every area of the city is subject to break ins. How often do you leave your car or house unlocked in BR? I would never, but have felt perfectly fine to do so in other places.
Crime is a fact of life in BR, and you are always on guard. That sucks is all I was trying to say n my original post.

It was designed as a war rifle to match the AK47.
The AR15 is easily upgradable to mimic the M16 in functionality.
Even President Ronald Reagan was against assault rifles sold to civilians.
It was a pathetic failure compared to the AK.
The ar15 is easily upgradeable, meh, kind of.
Given a block of pine, a table saw, and a dremel I could carve an AR15 lower fairly easily, hell I could use an electronic paintball gun lower with a simple adapter.
Reagan was a pussy who should have told his wife to shut up and stop wasting money on her psychic.
I think that covers everything, I've had a few drinks in the last 12 hours.
Now then, what do you think an assault rifle is?
I have a few older hunting rifles which accept 30 round mags and will outshoot an AR15 and AK all day long.

AR15 is a modified M16.
M16 came after the AR15 was developed.

Even the developer of the M16 said the M16(and subsequent AR15) wasn't intended for civilian/hunting use.
Eugene Stoner never said such a thing and early advertisements for the AR15 clearly state it as being a lightweight small game rifle.

I've mainky felt like I should have a weapon in northern california (I had to back down to meth heads in a gas station eho cornered my wife in an aisle using only my rather imposing size and a large can of ravioli in each hand), the northeast (the meth is unreal), and missouri (the thugs in cities are not used to being confronted when they act aggressively).
...so your opinion doesn't mean much.
Cali is a weird place, that has lots of pockets of dangerous areas, I'll give you that. Where in the norhteast were you running into lots of Meth heads? Mostly the drug up there is heroin (and pot). Missouri is a shithole full of meth heads.
I sill never really felt scared in California, but I was never in shady parts of Fresno or Chico. Felt safe in San Fran (although you get harassed by bums), had no issues with Sacramento, San Diego.....
Boston? New York? I'v never felt the least bit worried in those cities. We never locked doors up there. Everyone I know pretty much has been robbed in BR (garages, cars, homes). There are just a lot of thugs, and in the South, you don't just have them confined to certain areas. Nice parts of the South regularly butt up to complete shitholes like Gardere.

I own 13 guns. Never have needed one for protection.

I don't see how. You get off and take Hooper???? Still 3in the morning and I-110 is not where I would be at that time.

Don't bother with him. If he really thinks only people in LA need a gun then he's clearly never been to any major cities.
Major cities all have bad pockets. Louisiana has a lot of crime that spills into the suburbs though. Not like that everywhere.

What places do civilians need a gun to feel safe?
Inner city ghettos and North Baton Rouge

And who are these invaders? Baton Rouge is the only place I've lived where I really worried about this.
Again, not in cities, but in suburbs around the country.
I own guns, I was just trying to put a different perspective out there.

Dorchester (Boston) is WAY more dangerous than BR. The local news could have a taped segment about someone being shot in Dorchester, play it every day, and rarely be wrong.
There is plenty of great parts of MA that are very safe but I could name several parts that are rather bad.

Sure there's a chance I need a gun and won't have it, but the chance is small.
Do yall wear helmets when riding a bike? I sure as shite don't. And the chance of you needing a helmet on a bike to save your life is greater than the chance of you needing a gun to save your life. But both chances are tiny anyway.
Perhaps if I lived in a different area and felt more at risk, but I just see no reasonable need to have a gun.
It's not like if someone gave me a gun I'd freak out and try to get rid of it. But I'm not going to spend $150 on something I'm confident I'll never need or use. I'd just as soon blow that $150 on a nice bottle of burgundy, LSU tickets, or perhaps the complete Sasha Grey collection on Blu-Ray.

Airport exit to plank. Left to baker. Right at burger king.
It is thw fastest and safest route from South BR at that time of night. Unless of course your engine in your car with 30k on it decides to sling a rod through the block with no warning

See what I mean, weak arse arguments.
So you are saying there is no chance of home invasion or robbery with a chance of violence outside of a major urban area?
Because if there is a reasonable chance or percent of a home invasion, then it is reasonable to want protection. No other explanation needed.
The definition of reasonable may vary from person to person.

I agree and my home is well protected. I just don't own a gun. Not opposed to them in any way. Just never felt to need to buy a gun.
