Has anyone tried to spray the tops of their boards with bedliner spray or any other liner to protect the wood?

Seems like it would stop the washers from sliding which in turn would f up the game, IMO

I've seen them painted and clear coated... if you want to leave the wood look then you could always just put clear coat over the wood.

just seal the wood. You risk taking fun out of the game with carpet or rough textures.

Just leave it under a cover. Should last a lifetime in a garage or shed. And if you ever have to make another one, you're only out 20 bucks. I don't want anything other than natural wood on the playing surface, changes the play of the washers.

Real washers are played on dirt, like in Luckenbach.

The poly, clear coat, whatever you want to call it...doesn't work. I had a half dozen layers of poly on my boards and after one football season, they looked like they were a couple of years old. The bottom line is those heavy washers hitting those boards on their edges will simply tear up that clear coat. It helps a little...very little. If you want to keep the boards looking nice, go with cornhole bags.

MDF, carpet it, replace carpet after some years when it gets torn up. If the carpet is going to mess up the sliding of it like some posters said, you're useing the wrong kind of carpet.

How many years' use do you expect, old wash woman? Mercy, it's not 1931 anymore.

Nah. The second one is real washers.

The first looks like some idiot game someone would attempt to play when they should be playing horseshoes

So, do you have dirt pits in front of your trailer or in the back?

When you go to aTm games, does everyone there dig their own dirt pits and holes to drop PVC into?
