Question about the divide between open vs lockdown in other countries

Does anyone here no if there is the same type of divide in European countries as far as whether to stay “locked down” or re-open? Also is the divide mainly down the lines of conservative vs liberal as it is here in the US?

I live in Germany and the media is trying to scare people, but for the most part people are out and about as businesses reopen. There are some chicken little's, but for the most part people are pragmatic. Small businesses here that were shutdown got loans of 5K and they had to prove they were solvent before the shutdown.

Protests here in Germany seem to be gaining steam. But everyone in stores is complying with masks and mostly doing well adhering to distancing. Very little coverage in US media but a quick Google search turns up NY Times and NPR articles. Protests have been tied to far right extremists not sure if that's accurate or an attempt to delegitimize the protests. Deutsche Welle

The AfD is not extremist, but that is how the media portrays them. They want to stop bringing in refugees from the Middle East or at least put a limit.

Yes to your first question - for sure, and the divide is pretty rancorous there as well.
To your second question, not necessarily. The dynamics are different in each country:
Germany has opened up a pretty good bit (much more than just about any U.S. state), but they were on top of this from the get go, but there were still some protests here and there and a lot of debate about what to do.
France has had a very strict lockdown and a whole lot of pushback (possibly even more than here), mainly from two groups: the immigrants in the suburbs and the reincarnation of the yellow vest crowd. Neither are really conservative as we would think.
Britain has had more raucous and increasingly restive protests in recent days (with quite a few arrested), but it's still mostly the fringe crowd both left and right protesting there.
Places like Austria, Denmark, Czechia, et al are already reopened quite a bit as well.

I know Belgium is "re-opening", but their phase 1 is the same as our lockdown state. Effectively hardware stores can re-open and road construction can resume.
I had a telcon with our colleagues there after Mothers' day and they were complaining about the rules in place. But, complain as they may, they still followed them.
One of the rules was on any given day you can only spend time with members outside your household in groups of 4 or less. So, if you have 2 kids - you could only visit one of the 2 grandmothers on Mother's day (assuming you were with the 2 kids), and only if the grandfather wasn't there.

There are protesters in some First World countries. France, Germany, GB, Australia, Poland, that I know of(is Poland First World?) I don’t know what the political divide is like.
