Question about gun background check
do you have a TWIC card? if so that is why the hold happened, same happened to me this weekend.

I have a TWIC card and haven't been delayed or held up on my background checks ...

No matter what I do I get delayed.

Social or no social.

No criminal record, no speeding tickets on record, never a single toe out of line and got caught.

I have been delayed for every single firearm purchase since 2004.

Gun counter always says to use my concealed carry, I always say it's bullshite. My concealed carry lapsed 6 or so years ago. No big deal.

I always hear people saying if you have a TWIC card you get delayed, but nobody I know has ever been delayed (myself included)

Never had my TWIC hold up a purchase.

They do a background check when you get a TWIC so it seems like it would help, not hurt

Is the 3-day hold not normal?

I've bought 3 in the past year, never taken more than 20 mins. Never heard of the waiting period in Louisiana

Here is everything you need to know straight from the FBI,

LINK

"When a firearm background check is initiated via the NICS E-Check if no matching records are returned by any of the databases, the transaction is automatically proceeded. If it is determined that prohibitive criteria exists, the NICS Examiner will deny the firearm transaction. If the NICS returns a match of the prospective firearm transferee’s descriptive information to that of record information located in any of the databases that is potentially disqualifying, the NICS Examiner delays the transaction. When the initial processing of the NICS E-Check transactions is completed, the NICS E-Check generates the status to be relayed electronically to the requestor. If the transaction is determined to be a delay, the pre-calculated date the requestor may transfer the firearm if no resolution is provided within three business days is also relayed. The NICS Examiner begins extensive research on the potential prohibitors located on firearm background checks delayed via the NICS E-Check. Upon completion of the research when a definitive status is determined, an electronic message is generated to the requestor for a PROCEED or DENY decision. When transactions are denied after the third business day, the requestor is contacted via telephone with the final status. "

I have a TWIC card. I've bought 2 guns from academy - a .380 and a 22. The background check took about 20 minutes, including filling out the paperwork. I have a CCL and I didn't have to wait very long for it either (I've had it since 2014, so I don't remember exactly how long it took)

I've only bought 1 and it was shortly after Katrina maybe that particular shop likes to wait the 3 days. My friend bought one at the same time and was denied apparently for an old charge he thought was expunged.

Honestly, I've never heard of a 3 day waiting period for buying guns. Are you all sure you're talking about guns and not abortions?

I've seriously never heard of anyone having to wait 3 days to buy a gun.
