And then Fox News and Republican social media really took it personally and blew it up to what you are experiencing and seeming not to enjoy
Which is funny because a lot of those same characters went after Dr Seuss when The Lorax movie was released.

Not quite. It’s a little more. Some schools systems in the country have dropped it. Some of his books will not be published (his family’s company though)
There have published papers released over the years calling his work racist
And some of his work genuinely was.
I think it’s ok to acknowledge that issue, while still celebrating his great works and passing down the best of his lessons to kids today.
But there are some ones that you’d also squirm if reading to a mixed crowd and it’s cool to skip over those or be prepped to chat with your kids about not talking about “the slanty eyed people from countries whose name you can’t spell.” A quote from one of those books dropped by Seuss enterprises.

I wasn't even giving an opinion. I was just saying it wasn't just a few people on twitter that were at odds with his work

And I was piggy backing that it has been a discussion for a long time and definitely not the first content from him that’s been swept under the rug. The dude had some genuinely uncomfortable content.
Stuff that was accepted in his day doesn’t always fly now, but doesn’t make him the devil and gives an opportunity to just pick a book or two from him and a few new ones from today to share with your kids. It’s the nature of passing on childhood experiences. Not all will age well.
The outrage on this one from many, especially guessing most aren’t familiar with any of the 6 books or likely his wider library, is a bit much
