It's well documented and is common knowledge that fallout from nuclear weapons would affect more than just the target site. Any country in the area that gets any fallout could view it as an act of war. Not that any of them could do much about it, but what about Jordan? We have strong ties with them.
Another thing to consider, the world price of oil is a huge factor in the Russian economy. Economy drives policy which in turn drives the tank. All of this could be a ploy to drive the energy market back up. Reference the Iranian navy a few years ago.

You are absolutely right, IMO. Does anyone really think a nuclear solution is in any way feasible? I mean feasible in a realistic way, not a frick yeah kind of way? I get the frick yeah kind of way but some caution must be thrown to the wind.
Honestly, this whole situation scares me with so many of my normally rational friends getting behind the Hitler-esque, boisterous, ideas people like Trump are spewing. History has proven, time and again, that when governments are playing on well founded fears to gain support that bad things happen.
I know I'll be downvoted but I don't care, we need an answer to this problem but not at the expense of everything that we, as Americans, claim to hold sacred.

Reading that quote and then the comments here and I just don't see it. I don't get the feeling that nukes are even on the table.

Right after 9 -11 I advocated tactical nuke strikes on Tora Bora and the Afghan terrorist camps. We would have taken out Bin Laden right then and there and sent a message that there is a terrible price to pay for what was done.
Some cried about fallout into Pakistan, but they were hiding the son of a bitch out and aiding others so they would just have to deal with it. At that time any response we chose we would have gotten away with it.
These strikes coupled with a few untimely deaths elsewhere would have let these people know that the price is far too high to attack the US. And we probably don't have to invade Iraq the second time nor Afghanistan. And we aren't talking about any ISIS.

I wouldn't get excited over this at all because his mere suggestion he might do this is going to cause another exodus from that region and onto our shores.

I think when the Sheeks opened production to bring the market down it had more to do with their attempt to bankrupt Putin than US Shale. Just my opinion.

He's sent artillery and rocket units to Syria. They've been conducting exercises in government held areas to prepare for the attack in the northern revel held areas. I believe Russia will sound ground forces to Syria soon. And I believe that we will be sending conventional ground forces to Iraq as well.
