Never bring an attitude to a gunfight.

he's dead

police, DA, bystanders, witnesses. All agreed the dead guy was the aggressor and he had a knife clipped to his belt, which he reached for when he made his last movement foward

It’s strange the guy is just hanging outside his car at 5am. Seems almost like he’s expecting a fight to go down I’m guessing this isn’t the first time this dude came at him when he’s on his way out

Ole baw who got shot definitely had it coming though

When I heard he died, that was the only thing I could think of that wouldve killed him.

It clipped his artery and he doesnt have much time after that baby is cut.

Man what world do you people live in? This isn't the 1950s. We do not live in a high trust society anymore.

Shooter has ZERO obligation to engage an imminent and unknown threat with fisticuffs.

ETA. The Darwin Award winners obituary said he was avid MMA and boxer. Even more of a reason shooter is not required to play this guy's games.

I love the way that he pointed his toe while lying on the street. Very sexy.

i don't love the legal defense case.

not sure what instigated it all but i'm not sure his life was in danger and/or when you are shooting someone to defend your life, you don't stop shooting.

either way, appears to be two dumbasses.

How many more times should he have allowed the Attacker to keep stepping towards him and telling him "I'm going to attack you, put the gun down" before you say the Defender has a right to shoot?

Does the Defender have to step back 50 yards? 100 yards? A mile?

How many steps must I retreat before I'm allowed to shoot a guy that's charging at me and screaming at me that he wants to hurt me?

Huh? Tell me how many.

before you get overly rattled by my comment, the context of how this all started is absolutely relevant. Unless you have concrete info about this that i don't have then i think you need to simmer a bit. You can't just go around whipping out a gun to protect yourself in arguments if your life isn't in imminent danger imo. I'm not trying to defend the attacker, i'm just saying this simple video doesn't give an entire story. both look pretty bad here.

eta: the attacker was standing there doing nothing for 20 seconds. didn't appear armed or nothing. where were they at? If the gun guy felt his life was in danger, could have not have ran away? Was this his home? context... we have very little here.

Seeing a retard lunge toward an armed man with a gun in his face is all the context I need.

So, this guy has a knife on his person, he's been advancing on me after I've told him 20 times to yield or retreat and now you want the Law to say that I have to "run away" from him?

Do I understand you correctly?

At what point is my life in imminent danger, as you put it? After I try to run and fall down? After I run and then he chases me?

Go on. Keep talking. You might convince me of you point of view. I'm listening.

I also don't understand your point about "we don't know what happened before that confrontation" because I don't understand the relevance. Maybe the shooter DID do or say something to really provoke the Attacker near the Attacker's home, and that might mean that the Shooter is a real bad actor who deserved to have his face punched. That might be the case.

But when we isolate the scene on the video, I'd still like to know when you think the Shooter had the right to shoot.

Shooting in the leg is difficult, first of all. Less surface area, like trying to shoot a broomstick vs a broom head. Missing a target in a self defense scenario also increases the hazard behind the target, in this case is a neighborhood.

Secondly, stopping power. Center mass shots will stop an attacker from advancing much more often as it either disables the victim or shocks them.

Not to mention that a leg shoot can turn lethal very quickly. You hit the femoral artery and it’s sayonara.
