Apparently you can only dress up as something different as you are as long as it isn't too different, and it falls in line with certain people's stereotypical expectations of what you are supposed to be.

ETA: What about Cajun Culture? When I was a kid the Cajuns were seen as these rather strange people who lived in a defined area of Southern Louisiana. Now EVERYTHING in Cajun. Calling a person from NOLA a "Cajun" was almost as bad as calling them a "nagger."

Yep, my great-grandmother changed the spelling of her last name so as to appear more "proper French".
Apparently there's arguments people make about how Cajun culture is being popularized by whites but it originally had African roots that are being ignored... LINK

This is just another example of how good things are in the US today. There is no real large scale discrimination of any group in this country. Things are so good that people today have to invent problems just so they have something to solve. This isn't 50, 60, 70+ years ago where some people in this country truly were second class citizens.
I will give the liberals and SJW's credit though. They are very good at creating buzz-words for all of their fabricated problems. "Cultural Appropriation"; "Body-Shaming", "Climate Change"; "Microaggression"; "Institutional Racism", etc.
It has to be absolutely exhausting working to make sure that every "victim" in America is shielded from anything that may offend them.

No, it's not. It is never a good idea to allow more of this censorship and sensitivity to go on. It only gets worse.
Dressing up as another ethnic or race does not equate to being mean. I always put myself in someone else's shoes.. and if someone wanted to dress up as me and even monitor skin color to me for Halloween.. I would have ZERO issue with that.
