Public schools in mississippi close til after april 17th

With this week bein spring break... 5 weeks paid vacation. #Coronacation2k20 lets fn gooooooo

Not sure how Mississippi does it, but here in Kentucky they're using their escrow pay that they would typically get in the summer to pay for the days out of school. If they close for the rest of the year, they'll be out of a paycheck by the beginning of May.
Not exactly what I'd call a vacation.

I do the IT work for the district. Im not off summers so i really dont care wat teachers have to do. Im salary, its just a paid vacation for me

If I had 5 weeks off in the present climate without any other familial responsibilities, maybe I’d go hiking and camping but where can go and depend on food sources?

Until you get furloughed because the state is making about 1/10th the tax revenue they budgeted for.

IT guy at my kids school is losing his mind with the amount of questions and issues the teachers and students are having with this "distance learning" thing. Most need personal attention to figure this out.

I can’t imagine the teacher’s workload when school resumes and students have been promoted and are behind from the previous grade.

I'm sure the taxpayers are getting a property tax waiver proportional to the missed paychecks, since the government isn't using that money...
