We are all mentally ill, in one way or another, if you subscribe to the dsm-V. Even your psychologists and the psychiatrist who wrote you a script for Xanax.

I just wonder what the threshold is for someone dealing with the things most of the population deals with warrants medication.

I read your comment about suicide, and a significant % of the population consideres/ed that at one point too.

i'm not trolling, I really just want to know.

Honestly, I don't think that these are things that one can put into words. They are things that have to be personally experienced.

Good Luck!!

My ex was on various meds over the years for her anxiety and depression. She would take it for a while and then feel like she was cured and would stop taking it. Then all the crazy things would happen and she would have to get back on it. Kept repeating and I could never understand why she felt she was at a point to stop taking it, but I guess no one wants to be on a medication that they don't have to be on. Either way, the underlying anxiety and depression was always right there waiting to return when she stopped the meds...

Why did you HAVE to be on Xanax for 15 years? (I know it is for anxiety) but did you ever ask yourself/ address the underlying issues that can't be masked by a pill? Have you ever wondered how people dealt with problems before Xanax?

How did you deal with infections before antibiotics?

I hope this isn't as difficult as I expect.

Its excruciating.

You will be miserable for years with anxiety, and each tapered down dose will cause withdrawals.

Just go into it knowing that and you'll make through the other side.

But you'll get there.

Update: I'm down to a 0.25 mg pill/day. Not really having any problems, other than some sleep and dreams issues. In a week I'm going to start cutting the 0.25 mg's in half and go for about a month on that. Then I hope to be off altogether.

Thanks for the well wishes.
