I’ll add it to the list of things I’m supposed to be doing but never will

Joking aside, I had some excruciating IT band issues during a long hike a few years ago. A PT told me I needed to stretch my IT band. This is actually complete BS. Researchers boiled cadaver IT bands in acid, put them on a stretching device, and found that they practically can’t be stretched. What can be stretched are your hip flexors. I started doing Yin yoga for a couple months and it completely relieved my pain.

I think the desk life cause my hip flexors to adjust to an abnormal sitting position and caused my IT band to rub against something near my knee.

Stretching my wife's psoas muscle relieves my stress. I sleep great afterwards.

The psoas does not become fibrotic or end up in a knot.

See how that works?

You can’t palpate the psoas so that’s def not happening.

This tool along with psoas stretches has a alleviated a ton of my stress related issues. It's miserable feeling the constant tension. Take the pso-rite and hit one side at a time and you can feel the tension release.

Shared with my tennis team along with his traps release and stretch. His modified version for “next level” really do more than the typical stretches we always do. Glutes, hip flexors and traps are major issues for all of us. Thanks for sharing

I changed my OP to have the youtube link I posted actually become a hyperlink... I think some people may have glanced over it

I also do have a pso-rite as one other poster posted... (the horseshoe looking type thing).

I also actually did just finish Goggins' book last night but have been stretching my psoas before that. But the last chapter of his book does discuss his stretching routine and how the knowledge of the psoas muscle was passed along to him. He was a SEAL, did BUD/S three times, ran ultras and one day his body started crapping out on him. Just suddenly haveing nebulous physical issues.

He was one big knot of muscle. Started stretching aggressively and things got better.

I definitely feel less "keyed up" after I stretch my psoas.

After 20 minutes of stretching and using my psorite like I said in my original post... it's unlike any other feeling. I literally feel like jelly. My whole body feels decompressed. My legs feel supple and mentally I'm at ease.

Would recommend.

To clarify:
You CAN stretch your psoas. But you really can't MASSAGE it with conventional tools. Because the muscle is SO deep. It's like inside your abdomen by your spine... but on the anterior side of it. Not on the back. So you need like a deep hook to really get in there. And takes some learning. But once you mix in stretching it AND tactile pressure like a deep tissue massage of it with a device you will REALLY feel it.

I would massage first, perform a psoas release, you can use a softball or the device I posted to get that done. After than move on to stretching.

Many people speculate that having a tight, contracted, fibrotic, knotted up mess of a psoas will mechanically stimulate and tickle your adrenal gland. Leading to a bunch of "not feeling right" type symptoms. Chronic stress. Chronic anxiety. Etc
I don’t think there is any science that backs this up.

I do agree the stretches are definitely beneficial.

Then educate me on a fibrotic psoas and how it impacts the adrenal glands.

She’s not digging her finger into your psoas. It’s not possible. She’s smashing your intestines and telling you otherwise.
