If you shrug, curl, or row in a rack or cage at the gym instead of picking the weight up off the ground you suck.

If you bench in a power rack with safety bars because you are afraid to ask someone for a spot on a normal bench you suck.

If you do resistance band workouts in a rack instead of the tons of other places available to strap a band to you suck.

If you bring suspension straps into the gym and take up a rack for that you suck. Hang it from somewhere else...like a door.

Anyone else battle this shite every week on leg days? Feel free to add more.

I'll shrug wherever I damn well please. I do plenty enough deadlifting. If somebody is working legs, I'll do shrugs away from the rack so they can get to it.

When I'm doing heavy bench, I like the safety bars bc I don't use a spotter unless I'm gonna max and I don't wanna ask someone to stop their workout to come watch me go through my bench sets.

If you're this worried about what others are doing in the gym, you clearly aren't working hard enough.

I saw a guy crawl on all fours this morning from the free weights to the water fountain.

He stood up, took a sip, then bear crawled back into the weight room.

That's just it. He's trying to work, but you're in his way.

Take the one or two min to move out of the rack it's the right thing to do. Some other bro is probably waiting on you to squat

Nah.

If I see someone that looks like they are waiting, I'll work quick and find something else to do. My gym etiquette is fine.

Slamming 405+ in the ground will rattle the sleeves loose on the barbell over time. It happened once already at my gym...bar was off balance bc the sleeve shifted.

Then the gym should replace their equipment more often and get rubber plates.

Deadlifts should not be put down slowly. Control the weight, but you're going to hurt yourself if you're just slowly placing it down

The Planet Fitness out here just got rid of all their weight benches. No one has a choice now except to use the racks or dumbbells.

You must be talking about during busy hours. I perform walking lunges all the time, but there's never more than 5 people in the gym when I'm there in the AM.

I'm in a little locally owned gym btw, not a very large one. Only one squat rack, but I've never had a person in my way or felt like someone was holding me up.

I do deadlifts in front of the squat rack.

Based on this thread, all equipment in the gym should be power racks. Just get rid of everything else altogether. Everyone wins.

Would be a great gym
