Knife was almost certainly in the dominant hand, and we don't use Blackberries anymore

True, but I was thinking about the blood everywhere, and emergency personel hovering over him, trying to save his life, and he's like

"I need my phone!"

"We'll contact your family, sir."

"frick my family, I need to post this on TD!"

You just have to follow the most basic rule.

Always cut toward your buddy, never your body.

Dafuq?

Away" is the official Scouting America rule that requires a Cub Scout to always cut away from their fingers and other body parts. It is the second core principle taught to third through fifth-grade Scouts to prevent accidental injuries while whittling or using kitchen knives.

Be careful how you put a knife in a sink.

Sliced some fingers blade up not remembering or seeing it was in there.

Damn those stainless sinks and knives.

Glad to know that you are alright. I am curious as to the final bill for the Life Flight once you get it-- if you would share?
fwiw - Ours was 100 miles and was billed at $42K, but insurance paid it out for just $17K.

Wyoming is not the place to pull these stunts. Hospital care is good, but getting there is the battle. I was in Lusk, WY, duck hunting with a borrowed shotgun. Stock came off and the barrel broke my nose. Two hour trip to Cheyenne to get treatment. We had an RV and decided to drive back. X-Rays taken, then wait three hours for the one and only plastic surgeon to be found. The two nurses looked great, but both were anti gun, anti hunting.
Plastic Surgeon was in his shop doing wood work and had left his beeper in the house. He arrived, looked at the X Rays and said your nose is broken. I thought “No Shite, I didn’t look like this when I left the house this morning.” Two things hurt like hell, the last numbing shot was between the eyes to deaden the pain, I about crawled off the table. Then they pack the nose with cocaine soaked strips to keep the passages open. When it was time to remove the strips and the plate. Told the Doc, “Now I know what the Pharaohs would have gone through had they been alive when they removed the brains while Mummifying them.

That trip ended my ducking hunting days. I stuck with Elk and Moose after that and never borrowed a gun again.
