What's the reasoning for not offering a 2 year?

Annual emission testing.

Considering the ridiculous amount of chemical plants here, the last thing South Louisiana cares about is emissions. It's nothing more than a ticket writing tool. Gotta keep the corrupt cash flowing.

WTF are State Troopers doing lately? People drive on the Interstate like it is Honduras.

There is almost no traffic enforcement on BR interstates. BRPD gave it up after Sterling and EBRSO rarely hits the interstate except for specialized units hunting Mexican smugglers. The State Troopers are bringing in new Troopers every few months, but it seems their enforcement activity has gone down. I NEVER see Troopers anymore.

I actually called them a few months ago to report some dude who was broke down on I-12 and had the arse end of his car hanging into the road off the shoulder. I was scared someone was going to hit him and end up dead, so I called LSP. They said they'd send someone out ASAP. I drove by going the other direction about 20 minutes later and watch someone almost clip this dude while doing about 80mph. Still no Trooper in sight.

Highly doubtful that those deputies are doing that on their own. More likely they were told by one of Sid's assistants to set it up. Or they could be the dedicated traffic unit, who was also told by someone higher on the food chain to set it up.

Not saying this is what it was but the state has traffic enforcement grants that these officers work on their days off for overtime.

Must be a new push...there were 2 EBRSO units at Jones Creek and Coursey at 6:00 AM Tuesday morning. Thank goodness this was the trouble area that needed their attention. I guess the raping, robbing and killing is over in NBR.

Do y’all even Live PD, bro? Ticky tack shite like an inspection sticker or failure to signal is one way the po-leece catch folks that are doing other things. We don’t always know what is really going on. Maybe they got one and the car smelled like a Grateful Dead show so they searched and found stolen property.

Geeez. Y’all sound like the Mayor in here, bitchin about the cops enforcing the law.

Meanwhile, right down the road, somone on the interstate is cooking it at 90 to 100 plus, bobbing and weaving through traffic like butter and never have I seen anyone pull them over. I suppose it’s either two things. Either there’s a bunch of gingerbread man out there that nobody can catch, or maybe the cops are too busy collecting taxes to be concerned with actual real life public safety.

So you think because people speed in the interstate it should be ok for drivers to crash into me and because they don't have insurance I should just have to suck it up because after all being fined for not following the law if just tax revenue or something?

And you're wrong. people get stopped and ticketed routinely for speeding on Louisiana. Go search some of the threads bitching about speed "Traps" in Louisiana and how cops should be spending their time more productively.
It never ends, the ones that want to break the law are always going to say the law they broke is petty and a waste of time for LE.

actually that's what causes the imposition of the more restrictive auto emissions standards here..

That's an asinine leap. Inspection sticker checkpoints don't also check insurance, unless the inspection sticker is expired and they write a ticket. Even then, the officers or deputies usually just write the sticker ticket without checking insurance, registration, or running driver's license number as that would take too much time away from writing the next inspection sticker ticket.

It's a valid complaint by people that, in light of the excessive amount of speeding and unsafe driving particularly on the interstate, that LEO resources are wasted on inspection sticker checkpoints.

This is bullshite. My sticker expires this month, and I’ve tried four times to get a new one. Each time, they’ve been unable to do it because the state system is down, and they can only do 25 offline and had run out. One time, I had waited 45 minutes at Benny’s before being told to go home.

Go somewhere else, I got one last Wednesday with zero problems

So yall have to buy a Sticker showing you have insurance? Why don't they just ask for proof of insurance that your insurance provides?

Its not a sticker for insurance. Its an inspection sticker. The idea is to make sure your vehicle is in safe working order but the reality is the attendant glances under the hood, makes you honk your horn, offers to fix the broken tail light on the spot for $30 or decline your inspection. Then you pay $20 for a two yr sticker which they turn around and give the state more than half of that. Its a total govt scam. Some call it a brake tag but most stations dont check your brakes at all.

Other states have them too and its all sold under the guise of public safety. Luckily for where I am I dont have to pay for the emissios test like in BR. Because as a poster already pointed out the state cares so much about emissions with the likes of Dow and Exxon in the immediate area
