I only buy conflict diamonds. It's always pretty amusing to see a salesmans response when I ask if they have such diamonds.

I will not purchase a single diamond.
My wife's engagement ring is a familial 100+ year old ring. The emeralds I added in the side of ring are larger than the center diamond itself.

Diamonds aren't really rare or scarce at all. They keep them in big storage facilities in order to keep the supply low so they can dupe people into paying thousands of dollars for a clear rock that wouldn't be worth $50 otherwise.
