the fact that this happened is a testament to how the mentally ill are treated in this country. the mother clearly had mental issues and it's irresponsible for the state to allow her to give birth and keep the baby. I feel sorry for the mother and hope she gets the help she desperately needs. not sure why people have a problem with state funding for people with mental disabilities. they're treated as second-class citizens, and the mother being accused of murder will only lead to another person with issues sitting in jail not getting the treatment she deserves.
