Yeah I was thinking Huffman would be his best bet for finding some land fairly close by.
My brother has 3-4 acres off of Vista Del Lago in Huffman. Loves it. Used to live on January Drive in Atascocita (Sp). Now I'm not gonna say Hargrave High School would be my first choice for my kids, but it's not the worst thing in the world. Of course he sent his daughter to a catholic girls school down town, so maybe he was pissed at his sons.
Huffman seems nice if you can handle the trip across Lake Houston. It's just redneck compared to everything west of it.

Kingwood is great, I really love it here. As others have said nice wooded neighborhoods, great schools, not too far from the city. Traffic isn't as bad as some have said. Night and day difference from The Chuck. Spend a few days here, I'm sure you'll agree.

My BIL just moved there and we went visit for Thanksgiving. I loved the area but the houses are older and you had to drive pretty far for some stores.

Traffic. Kingwood Dr. and West Lake Houston Pkwy are fricking nightmares.
Traffic is nowhere near the shite show in Baton Rouge. Traffic here is mild compared to what I dealt with living in the BR area.

KW has a small town feel.
I wouldn't live anywhere else in the greater Houston area

Grew up in Kingwood. Its a great place for young kids. Teens get bored and get into trouble, and there's more trouble than it appears at first glance.
Can't speak for quality of life of the parental units. I, for one, would never move back there or a place like it.

Have lived there 2 different times, once when it was only half of what it is now. As everyone says, great for families, safe but if you're looking for acreage, it's not for you.
