Raising tuitions annually to build more facilities to attract athletes and pay coaches more.

I cringe at myself for saying this, but of course it's a liberal.
And a fricking congresswoman making millions in addition to her taxpayer funded salary complaining about this shite is RICH.

A newly filed financial disclosure shows that Shalala, a leading Democrat in the campaign to replace U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen in Congress, continues to hold as much as $1.1 million in stocks and options in UnitedHealth Group. Shalala took a seat on the corporate board after leaving President Bill Clinton’s cabinet and was compensated in part through company shares before stepping down in 2007.

They already are non profit for the most part reliant upon state and federal funding as a major source of their operating budget. Athletics add significantly to student experience and provided serious advertising for schools.
Do you think there is no correlation between Alabama being dominant this past 12 years in football and their significant increase in out of state students, donations, operating budget, and academic rankings?

I dont really have an opinion. Just that the football teams are professional, and I can see the argument against. The exposure also contributes to increased cost, and the university is no longer serving the citizens of AL as it once was, using your example. The barriers to entry are increased.

On an unrelated note, Bernie Sanders says everything should be free to everybody.

FYI: I am listening to Dennis Dodd about this and he said this is a bipartisan bill.
This shouldn't even be a story because since the federal government shouldn't have NO say so in this whatsoever.
