Move immediately. It's not worth it

$500 to get an official survey done. Set it up and call the sheriffs at that same time.
The sheriffs dept usually handles property and tax issues.
Tell the sheriff you want a deputy there to protect the survey crew from your crazy neighbor when they are there. You may need to pay the sheriff dept something but hopefully they come do it for free.
Be sure to tell they surveyor what's up when you hire him as well.
Why would I pay for a survey? The survey on file at the court house that is Signed And Stamped as accurate shows I'm in the right.
Seems like he would be the one to pay for a survey. Since he has no papers or anything to back up his claims?

Property attorney is the final answer.

Sounds like you need some bitcoins and head over to the deep web.

I like your style. Don't listen to these guys telling you to make peace with this redneck. If you give in once he'll keep on pushing you... put a stop to this shite now.
Cut the trees down to show him you mean business. Then take the pieces and spell out frick YOU facing his property line.
This is the only answer. Don't listen to all these olive branch whiners. You need to go over there like a boss. These southern types usually back off when a carpetbagger shows up and tells them to suck nuts.
Ps Please keep us updated on how it all goes.

What is an honest cost to do this?
I'm not looking to spend 10's of thousand of dollars on this piece of shite.

Tell him you came up with a new meth recipe that he has to try. Just don't mention the secret ingredient.

Why the OP is here instead of hiring an attorney is beyond comprehension to me.
He's basically saying, "I know there is a dispute, it's currently irreconcilable, and it relates to the boundaries on physical property."
Any Louisiana lawyer worth his salt sits back and says, "Oh, hey. They have a whole chapter on that in the Civil Code. I'll be glad to help you."
But, OP insists on taking his advice from anonymous internet strangers.

Idk, but it isn't going to be tens of thousands of dollars. Call one and see what he or she charges.

This... My dad owns a surveying company and I have worked on a crew plenty. These people used to bitch at us all the time. Fact of the matter is, the cops aren't going to do anything until it's too late. The threats will continue unless you can catch him on tape or something threatening you.

Unless he's putting up a fence, the property lines are pretty much a done deal,
Right?
So unless he REALLY likes bullshite, and garun-fricking-teed, with white trash there will be bullshite if he causes a stink, then maybe it's better to hedge his bets?
Unless he plans on enforcing the property line, it's better to have it just exist in legal terms than to be an arse about it.
Farther down the line fostering good relations with your neighbors will make your life easier
Right?

Did you not get a survey when you bought the property?

I'm cutting the trees down and putting up a fence

A survey is not going to impact physical possession.

I love the fact that he's too stuck on spending some money to assure or quiet the title to a chunk of immovable property with pecan trees on it. He could literally lose the land that Cletus has staked out, mowed, and harvested adversely for years. Oh well.
*again, not legal advice and not your lawyer.

Did you not get a survey when you bought the property?
It was stated to me that since it was down only a few years ago thst it was not necessary. Since nothing has changed out there
