So your taxes are going up. Just like I said and everyone called me an idiot for.

Well, maybe they were right to call you an idiot. Some people’s taxes are going up, and some are going down. According to the OP the net is $100 million up, which is almost neutral. The wealthier will see a net tax cut, and the poorer will see a net tax hike.

Until they expand the sales tax base, which they’re going to do

Louisiana residents gave the government MORE power in how much they tax with this shift. Income taxes are nearly politically impossible to raise. Sales tax collections can be raised with the stroke of a pen. It was and always will be a terrible decision, but a bunch of retards got to get rid of the big bad income tax

I said I supported consumption taxes over any other type.

We live in a poor arse state, this tax will impact poor people more. I am all for it, but no one will admit that this tax will end up fricking over 95% of the posters on this board.

In the last thread on this subject, the pro-consumption tax contingent admitted they would shop in other, lower tax jurisdictions for larger purchases in order to avoid the high consumption taxes they advocate for.

What sucks is you now get sales-taxed when you buy stocks and mutual funds
No you don't. Stocks are noted as an exception.

This is why you live in a backwards as state. I do this shite for a living and charge people hundreds of dollars an hour to do it. Yet you call me the idiot while you are totally ignorant to what is going on because it goes against your talking points. Maybe try to learn something instead of sticking your head in the sand. Truly baffling behavior

Those same people will LOVE revenue agents knocking at their door making them produce a receipt and use tax return for their refrigerator.

Where is the money for the revenue agents coming from? They don't audit shite as it is.

Good. They are the biggest drain on the budget, whether through public education, criminal courts or free emergency care, etc. They need to pay their fair share.

You call him a clown and then go on to explain how smart his move has become.

I'm telling you, he was handed a shite sandwich and is doing everything he can to hold LA together and rebuild. There is no easy answer. But he loves the state.

We will all take a hit in certain areas...there is no other way out

Maybe they will try to better themselves instead of contining as usual.

Seems like a net benefit to society. For every one person who can't do better, there are 10 who are happy to live poor to not have to do anything.

Sure, it's going to impoverish so many. That Netflix and Appletv tax is going to doom them
