Y’all need to stop this idea that “if you just ignore it, it doesn’t actually occur or exist” mindset.
It is in no way even remotely factual in our hyper-connected society of Twitter and other trash websites.
It is no longer a situation where these ideas are supported or propagated by tiny fringe groups who have no voice.

This is literally the opposite of what needs to happen.
The field of behaviorism exists for a reason.

That's a straw man. I never used that argument.

Who shared this prog prof more: leftists supporting it or conservatives being critical? Conservatives.
Who is making this message go more viral? Conservatives.
Not making these freaks famous isn't saying that the freaks won't exist, they just will be less famous (and their ideas less pervasive). I mean just look at this very thread. People honestly think that weirdo academics just start promoting pedo shite and it's been going on for decades. The confusion is based in proliferation.

So you're arguing that conservatives should make every crazy leftist with no following go viral and become a popular meme?

This is beyond twitter shares. This guy is a professor, with the weight and influence that comes with that.

Conservatives shouldn't even support twitter.
These people need to be shamed. Shaming is very effective for a reason. You don't change norms by ignoring them.
Where has virtually unchecked progressivism got us?

There is nothing new about this. You only think it's a big deal b/c it's being turned into a frenzy by scared people.
These weirdo pedo profs have existed for decades. They just didn't have a willing echo chamber to make them famous.

You're social views are bizarre at times. I know you're on the spectrum, but...

That's exactly what they want. That "shame" will be seen as an irrational conservative attack and then leftist media/social media will come to their defense and support them. EXACTLY what they're going for.
That plan is literally what they're trying to do. It's basically a form of trolling.

Formerly, I would have agreed with you 100%. And in theory, I still want to. But shite like this seems to be happening more and more these days, which is almost the very definition of normalization, no?
yes.
And of course SFP wants to toe the line and act like its happening ONLY because of conservative outrage.
That's just stupid.

No, they want acceptance.
There's nothing wrong with voicing disagreement with pedos. You think there is.

That's not what I'm arguing. You're creating a Strawman like you usually do.

Nope. that's exactly what you said.
If you want to avoid misconceptions, maybe be honest. You're not being honest here.

Sorry dude, the world isn't always some social media game.
When you let the social media frick your mind up so much, you think this is a troll. Sometimes things are exactly what they seem.

I just posted about Camille Paglia, I know there's nothing "new" about professors leaning into these ideas.
The point I'm making is that they are indeed in positions of power beyond "just a guy with 50 followers on twitter" and therefore a backlash is warranted to check that influence. Just because a dangerous ideology has existed for a long time doesn't mean fighting back isn't warranted. The reason it has never become mainstream in our society is because there have always been people fighting back. Other societies in the past have accepted it. Let's not.

The problem with this interpretation is you seem to describe it like a political game of "chicken." If we just call their bluff, at the last minute they'll swerve out of the way and admit it was all a charade.
It's not. If it goes unchecked, it'll just continue. The identity group's existence is a cash cow for some. That isn't going away.

That's not what I'm arguing at all.
These people are all mentally broken. Some do believe their bullshite but many are just warped mentally to value attention to an unhealthy level. You see this all the time in academia (especially in soft sciences) because a million gender/sociology/psychology pHDs are granted every year, so the only way to stick out is to be outlandish.
It's just now they can use that outlandishness to fuel their egomania to get attention (both ways, and possibly rich/a job).

This. But I don't really wish you guys actually understood this. I come to the OT to see conservative reactions because in my normal world I don't see anything like the shite y'all post here.

Says the old man discussing a viral social media meme created from a social media post, using other social media viral memes as proof that his argument is correct.
