It drives me crazy that people from Louisiana describe parochial education as private education.
Private schools are held to a much higher standard and are much more expensive to operate. Private schools cost ($25k+), and getting in is so much harder than a religious/military school. The SSAT (secondary school admission test) is basically the same as the SAT/ACT.

If that drives you crazy you need to smoke some marijuana.

And trust me, I’m the last person that would recommend someone smoke marijuana.

Not all, because “religious schools” are “faith based” they don’t have to meet state requirements because of the religious exemptions.
Private schools are held to a much higher standard. It’s part of the reason why parochial students are so under-prepared for college.

You're concerned about the difference in quality between education options? Are you some kind of parent trying create the best possible future for your kids? WTF is the matter with you?

And all I ask is that you refer to that form of education as parochial and not private.

I'm sorry your parents tremendously overpaid for your education.

Some people use the terms “Catholic school” and “parochial school” interchangeably. In some cases, a school may be both, but in many cases, it’s not.

A parochial school is a private school affiliated with a religious entity. In many cases, that entity is a church. Frequently that church is Catholic, although sometimes it’s not.

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, 60% of Catholic schools are parochial, meaning they’re associated with a specific church. But the rest aren’t.

For example, there may be a Catholic school in your area that provides religious education but exists independently of any particular church. A school like this wouldn’t be considered parochial.

Yes I think parochial education is the worst level of education. It requires the lowest of requirements from teachers in the clasrroom. In some cases has politicalized knowledge. If your school mandates creationism then you are in the wrong school.

I would say that’s sort of a “Christian” school thing, not catholic.

"private" as an adjective is very generic and applicable to many different topics. While parochial is accurate and more specific than private, 'private' is the opposite of public.

In that context, a Catholic school, not public, so it is natural to consider it private. I'm a curmudgeon, and I can sympathy with you on the importance of good terminology; but is this really a hill you want defend? Is there not a greater injustice or error you could help rectify?

Well all Catholics are Christians, but not all Christians are Catholics
