Their kids actually seem more academically advanced than my niece and nephew that attend Catholic school.

And probably more socially awkward.

So odd to me that LA people send their kids to private school. Such a waste of money IMO. And weird.

yea, its really weird.
Imagine wanting your child to learn English instead of ebonics...

Schools (private and public) have been intentionally told to keep the workload "light" for students during this. Actual home school, done right, has a lot more content.

In AL, officials are now running through the situation of no kids physically at school in the fall.

For many Alabama school systems this will effectively mean no school at all. I understand that they may have to plan for this contingency. But I believe that the kids will be back in school in the Fall.

If this continues until the Fall '21 then you'll see kids dropping out of school to work menial jobs to help support their family. Just like during the depression.

relax, this will be over in a couple of weeks. The COVID-19 is a fraud being perpetrated on the world by the globalist democrats. The fraud is being exposed more and more each day.

Well as a teacher with teacher friends in ebr, livingston, st tammany, jefferson, ascension, and wbr i can tell you its not any of those parishes. I think you are confusing not giving grades at this time with not doing anything. My wife and i are both teachers and have been posting and giving feedback daily

I don't understand what you think the schools are supposed to do. This isn't their fault and most tuition based schools are doing the best the can. I've heard parents at my child's school grumble about asking for money back, but I won't be among them. The schools were dealt a hand and they are dealing with it. What else can they do?

the price we're paying for my kids catholic school is totally worth it to avoid the gender spectrum / extreme political correctness agenda in our local public school administration.. distance learning or not. it's out of control.

I agree there are a ton of issues in the public school system but the majority of ebr magnet schools are top notch with the school scores to boot

The content is still there for the AP kids (since the College Board isn't cancelling those tests, simply moving them online). They're just not requiring a lot of graded work.

Agreed. My wife teaches 2nd grade at a private school. She hates this. This is way more work than teaching in person.

Glad I live in Mandeville. Great public schools, no need for private school $$$. Public schools in our area don't have many poors.

ETA: My kids' teachers have been sending assignments home weekly and having Zoom meetings for the kids to see each other and talk about assignments.
