Old cessnas starting at around 30K and then up from there.

Damn that’s it? I might have to look into this whole private pilots license thing.

It’s an awesome hobby if you can afford it.
Since we’re on the topic, does anyone know how much it would cuts to add a CFI onto my ratings?

Airplanes are cheap as shite but the annuals, 100hrs if applicable, TBOs, etc is where they get you...

What are annuals and 100 hours going for these days? I know it depends on what they find wrong but what’s the average you spent?

My guy did it for $85 an hour. Usually a 100hr was about $900 and an annual $1500 or so on average.

As long as you don’t use the aircraft for flight training the 100hr isn’t necessary.

I learned years ago from a fellow named Ed Duffard, but he's been dead for years. I have some names in a notebook at work that I will post tomorrow. However, in the meantime, go to Gleim Aviation and start doing some book work. I've heard good things about Fly By Knight, though.
I got my private and instrument with Ed Duffard. He was a legend. They don't make CFI's like him anymore.

I have a McDonald Flying Service written in my notebook. Don't know that much about them, but Curt seems like a good guy. Dave Lewis is in Pineville just in case you want to add a seaplane rating when you finish.

I'm not ready this year for the expense. Though I follow what planes ate up for partners and clubs. On La aviator (Facebook page) They were just advertising a 1/4 stake in a 172 @ 80hr wet + 285 month.
Just had a zero hour engine installed.
I'm looking for specific planes. I like the 177 and the Tiger if I can get one.
Dream used plane would be a Commander. I love how they sit up and have such a wide cockpit.
I have less than 30 minutes in a 152, I couldn't stand being that tight.
I'm based close to nola, but would prefer a Hammond, slidell or Picayune based craft. For cheaper storage and fuel.

McDonald Flying Service at BTR. He has a deal where you can join the club and just pay for fuel. I've flown with a lot of instructors and he's one of the best
I used him when I was temporarily back in BTR for work. It's a great program and he knows his stuff.

Medically the two most important things are to see if you have diabetes, which even medicated rules you out from certified flying. Secondly heart disease. I was told the threshold is a somewhat high 155,100
Some online say they cheat this test with medication before physical if they don't want to admit heart disease. I was on heart med and passed. The physical was almost laughable. Now if you go pro the physicals are tougher.
The piss test is to check your kidneys, not to see if you have pot in the system from the edibles you picked up on the last ski trip.

A,helicopter is $250-300 an hour wet for a R22.
That's most of the cost.

An annual on a C172/Piper160
averages $600-850 (with no major repairs needed)
Add 1000 for retractable gear.
Add $250-500 if complex
Add $1000 if dual engine.
Insurance is high if you have retractable gear.
A new motor is $18,000 or so, which to me is insane because it's less complex than a $300 VW bug motor.
Insurance for a PP rating with a $65,000 hull value is around $180 a month.
100 hour is if it's used for commercial reasons
