Tyka Nelson on Tuesday filed court documents to open a probate case in Minnesota's Carver County, which is where her brother's Paisley Park estate is located.
In the filing, she states that "I do not know of the existence of a Will and have no reason to believe that the Decedent executed testamentary documents in any form."
Prince was worth $300 million according to various estimates, including one from Celebrity Net Worth. And his estate is expected to grow as sales of his music have exploded since his death.
Tyka Nelson is the only full sibling of Prince, who died last week at the age of 57. Prince was not married and had no living children or parents who could potentially inherit the millions to come from his estate.
The singer had a thriving brand, which included thousands of unreleased songs, a record label and his Paisley Park property.
Nelson and Prince also have half siblings, John Nelson, Norrine Nelson, Sharon Nelson, Alfred Jackson and Omar Baker, all of whom are also named in the petition as heirs.

Doesn't it all just go to the next in line? I'm not sure how royalty works...

I'll be shocked if they don't battle in an embarrassing way.

I'm also related to Prince..... my dad and his dad were both dads.

That's a good WYHI, everyone would say no, then tell them 300 million is involved.

People go batshit when it comes to inheritances. My SO is no longer on speaking terms with her siblings over much, much less than this.

Do half siblings count as siblings in these cases, or will it all go to the sister?

My dad didn't need his inheritance and wanted to give it to his younger brother who had children and was stuggling....older brother who had been retired for years objected and said he was entitled to half of what my dad was giving to little brother too. fricking dick lol

You can bet the half siblings will fight for a full share.

Doesn't matter if it's $3,000 or $300 MILLION. Inheritance proceedings are always a shite show. I don't think my Mom talked to her half sisters, mother and brother for 10 years after my Grandfather died. He left everything to my mother, my brother, my sister an me. Since we were his only blood heirs. And because he knew my mother would take care of my grandmother.
My grandmother sued us.
My mom gave it all back to her, including the money set aside for me, my brother and sister. It was a substantially sum (high 6-figures).
Flash forward to the last years of my Grandmother's life and who took care of her. Her three children that lived within two miles of her. Nope. They wanted nothing to do with her. She moved 2.5 hours away to live with my parents for three years until she passed.
I hope I die broke.

I find it hard to believe that he didn't have a will. The man had an Army of people who just had one job of getting all of his videos off of Youtube. Surely they could dictate terms of his estate. Someone had to have recommended that.

I read somewhere that in MN the half siblings hold the same weight as full siblings. So that money will be split 8 ways I believe.

The true evil comes out of people. They can't hide it any more.
