A 51-year-old Pride man is under indictment on aggravated rape and sexual battery counts involving two young girls. Gary Babin Jr., of 14119 Heatherton Ave., is accused of raping one of the girls numerous times between 2009 and 2014.

An East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury indictment returned Wednesday also alleges Babin committed sexual battery on the other girl in 2014. An aggravated rape conviction would carry a mandatory sentence of life in prison. The case is assigned to state District Judge Don Johnson.

Life in prison? Personally, I think anyone (male or female) convicted of committing sexual crimes against a young child (under the age of 14) should be eligible for the death penalty.

Heinous? Yes. But no one should get the death penalty unless they kill or have someone killed.

Now, if they should somehow end up dead at the hands of a family member of the victim, or by an inmate, I’m good....

Yep. Expedited execution and be done with it.

There is no rehabilitating these animals, they offer nothing to society.

No.

Prison is so much worse for these people.

They will either be targeted with extreme prejudice or they spend their time in isolation for protection.

I agree that prison is horrible, but with the cost of housing inmates being around 31K a year, housing someone for 40 years is over 1.2mm. And that does not cover the cost of things like special healthcare, guards, etc.

If budget is your issue, then lock this guy up and release drug convicts and those locked up for misdemeanors and probation violation.

Yea because this guy is gonna be serving life at the same facility as someone held on misdemeanor probation violation or simple drug possession

Having pondered this since my post I agree with you. But not for what this guy did. Sadly.

Life in prison is cheaper than the death penalty. Throw him in with the others and see what happens.

And then be sodomized with the rusty knife. And then forced to eat the rusty knife.
