You haven't issued a vaccine mandate yet, but you've been thinking about it and the Biden admin is leaning on you. The recent FDA approval has generated spin on your HR team.

You know your employees are worried about it.

At this point, how could you possibly mandate it?

-We know you can still catch, you can still transmit
-Effectiveness is being questioned, and at a minimum it's clear that immunity wanes after a period of months.
-Fully vaxxed is certain to mean "boostered" as well
-A month ago, you may have been tempted to partner with the federal govt, but do you really want to hitch your cart to that horse now?

I work for a large Fortune listed company, our CHRO stated yesterday when asked about a mandate that they discussed and we will not be having a mandate. They will “heavily incentivize” but not require.

The justification given was all companies right now are fighting for employees while they’re also bleeding out and it’s foolish to add any barriers to entry and make it any harder on ourselves to hire. Seemed fairly logical to me.

I talked with a friend of mine in management in a large refinery near N.O. He says that they are mandating but in large part due to the workers taking advantage of the current policies around exposure to those who are positive. He says they take 14 days off only to come back and then say they were exposed again and take another 14 days and they get paid. So they are paying workers quarantined because of exposure and then Overtime to the one covering their work. I think instead of mandates a more common sense approach would include a more sane policy towards those who have been around the exposed. At my work no matter if you've been exposed to someone you come to work if YOU have NO symptoms. If you have symptoms stay home.

This is probably the right way to do it for now.

If vaccination rates don't come up enough, the next insurance premium renewal can increase for unvaccinated to offset Healthcare expenses.

If a company should be required to have a Vax mandate, the gov't should have a Vax mandate in order to receive any form of governmental assistance. This includes rent subsidy, unemployment, food stamps, etc...

Who’s to say health insurance companies require being vaxxed? If you’re not vaxxed and you catch covid, you’re responsible for whatever it cost to get over it.

None of this is relevant if you are the CEO. Your duty is to the shareholders, not weighing in on any of this.

As far as i know, the Feds still run the SEC, IRS, regulatory agencies, etc.

So yes, that would be who I want to hitch my wagon to if they were going to lean on me like that.

If I'm a CEO, I hope I'm in a state where mandates have come out that I can't require a vaxx because then the decision is made for me and I can deflect all of the blame and skirt the question either way.

My plant let's vaccinated workers come back immediately. Unvaccinated have to stay out, unpaid, for 2 weeks, symptoms or no.

Too many people were gaming it last year for free paid vacations.

I would mandate each employee take ivermectin. I would vary the dosages and make it double blind. We could then pump Covid into he offices and let's see the outcome. Does it work or does it not

In my department it costs about $100-150k to get somebody up to speed.

I pray that will deter such mandates.
