The actual original claim was "the left" lost its minds and called it xenophobic and racist. There was certainly a lot of outrage on Twitter from liberal folks, but not much from Democratic office holders.

You've already been proven to be a dishonest hack a few posts back. Then you double down.

Typical, immoral to the core. They lot of you.

Yes.

Is that surprising?

It happens all the time.

Biden said that he would support the green new deal when talking to Bernie/Bernie supporters, then said he wouldn’t.

Hell, he said he would support it and wouldn’t support it all in the same sentence during the debate.

He also told leftists he would ban fracking and then told PA voters he wouldn’t ban fracking.

These people talk out of both sides of their mouth and base their statements on who they are talking too.

Because too many illegals were coming in and committing crimes

Don't have to. I already posted the section of the speech in question. Nowhere did he call the China travel restrictions xenophobic, as claimed.

The Spleen’s argument, which I completely disagree with, is that Biden didn’t specifically state the phrase “the travel ban is xenophobic”, therefore he never said the ban was xenophobic and his opinion clearly isn’t that the ban was xenophobic.

He simply called the president, and the actions he took, xenophobic.

But it is completely unreasonable to infer that he thought the ban was xenophobic, even though Biden thinks the president and his policies are xenophobic.

It is a matter of word games that makes zero sense.

Cool. I am well aware that Biden has repeatedly accused Trump of being xenophobic. Nowhere has he specifically called the China travel restrictions xenophobic. That was the original claim that I am questioning.

Those are some impressive hoops you're jumping through trying to justify your argument.

Haha, yeah, he responded to a Trump tweet on the travel ban with accusations of “xenophobia,” but maybe he was just saying that for the hell of it. You’re shameless.

Just days ago he said
quote:

“It affects virtually nobody,” Trump said of the coronavirus. “It’s an amazing thing.”
So, is he just saying things based upon who is listening in the moment?

He has also said that he “saved millions of lives” by stopping travel from China and shutting down the country.

You can’t really square the idea that it’s no worse than the flu with the idea that millions of lives were saved. Similarly, it’s difficult to reconcile the campaign rhetoric with the WH task force’s actions/recommendations. As with most things, the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

Of course, all politicians engage in doublespeak. But I feel like a lot of the current vitriol around the virus could have been avoided by more consistent, realistic messaging.

“COVID is a big deal. It’s a huge strain on our healthcare system and a lot of people have died and will continue to die because of it. But it’s not the end of times, and we will get through this. We must come together and find a way to balance the needs of the many with the needs of the few. That will require compromise and difficult decisions as we try to minimize the overall damage to society - both from an economic and a public health perspective.”

I don’t know why it’s so difficult to do. You’ll never make everyone happy, but the conflicting messages just make everyone hate each other even more.

It is an absolute rejection of reality to play word games in order to downplay a comment which clearly states what he rejects.

It is disingenuous.

Despite the fact that he called him xenophobic immediately after and in relation to the travel ban, the idea that he had to specifically state “the travel ban is xenophobic” in order to conclude that Biden was calling the travel ban xenophobic is simply false.

This is simply a rewriting of history immediately after the debate.
