Not sure if this is applicable any more, but years ago my son was a bartender at a Tiger Land area bar. He, like all the other bartenders, had to get their own licenses & were considered independent contractors. In theory, removing the bar from liability; I don't recall if he had to get his own insurance as well, or if that went with the license. At his bar, students entering had to show proof of age & then were given colored bracelets; those too young were still allowed to enter, a dumb quirk in La. law, but the bartenders were supposed to....supposed to...check for the bracelets. Son always said that in the crush, plus winter coats in the winter, made it too easy to "miss" a bracelet.

different day and time when I went there but college students were considered to be "adults," this was right after the Vietnam war, and free to make choices, the school didn't try to mother hen too much and everything seemed to work out okay, more or less

If the bars are 21 and up only, how does that not put a big slow down on underage drinking in that establishment? You’ll always have fake IDs that sneak past the bouncers but still. Go to any college bars in other states and it’s 21 and up only.
Learned this the hard way. We brought a group to Tuscaloosa and two of people in the group were under 21. No bars allowed entry. The two in our group assumed it was like Louisiana and under 21 you can enter. No where is like Louisiana when it comes to this. Needless to say, me and a few others said sorry and we’re going in. We didn’t travel all this way to A. watch LSU lose and B. Not even be able to experience their bar scene.

The genius I replied to literally said that black culture is to blame for the idiocy that happens in Tigerland. I’m not talking about what happened to that student. But, I would see this dumb arse frat culture of drinking until one was about to die while at LSU, and it was usually these frat boys doing it. But the people here want to excuse that behavior by blaming President Tate’s “culture.” Stupidity.
