Was able to survey tornado damage today. Success story: the person that lived here said they cleared their closet 4 days ago when they saw the forecast. Got the warning and the family went into the interior room. The outside rooms of the house were all gone when it was over.

I don't know if I'm getting soft in my older age or what, but that gave me a few chills.

All bs aside, if you’re in a house with no basement, wtf are you supposed to do? Middle of the house? Bathtub? Closet?
I live in the swamp cha, I don’t have a basement

Tornado season is the worst. Little to no time to prepare. A night tornado is awful.

I went around the block on Friscoville and lebeau around back to st claude. the damage is pretty extensive in some areas and not so much in others. idk if it was bouncing off the ground alot when it passed through, but the track didnt look discernable. one bus is flipped on the other side of the railroad tracks on Alexander and one/two houses are destroyed. none of the houses minus the first house on Friscoville and st claude are structurally damaged. Old arabi on the other side of st claude though is like a war zone

The storm South of the other is Severe warned now. It has some rotation, but should track South of Pelham.

Interior room is the best. Bathrooms are typically good, closets too. Away from exterior walls and windows.
Make sure you got your shoes on too.

potential waterspout in Mobile Bay potentially headed for Fairhope, Ala.

Find a room or closet with no exterior walls. Garage’s included. A bathroom works too.

That's not uncommon. Tornadoes do weird shite. When you see the damage with your own eyes, it registers how weird they are.

WDSU showing what were 2 story houses that are leveled down to the slab. Insane damage.

I ran inside as fast as I could and my parents didnt believe me as I was rushing them to the most interior part of the house. by the time I got everybody in the hallway it was gone. no pressure drop (although neighbors experienced it) and no train noises

I missed this earlier.
Interior room on the lowest floor. No windows. Put as many walls between you and the outside as possible. Find something to cover your head, a helmet is preferable, but anything will help. Grab a mattress if you have to and have the time. Turn the sound up on the TV or take your phone with you. If you normally watch someone like Ryan Hall or another streamer, don't when you're in a warning. Change to your local met coverage.
Most tornadoes are survivable if you follow a similar plan.
ETA: Seriously, spend the $40 and purchase a weather radio. It has battery backup and doesn't rely on cell service. It will be rolling even when the power is out and cell towers have been damaged.
