quote:1. I don't think you understand what self defense means, if you think that.
That guy already endangered my unborn child. I see it as self defense.
2. So you don't think your unborn child was put in more danger by your wife by running after him? You don't believe that, this is you just staying entrenched in your position for some weird reason. You don't possibly think that the wife didn't put her unborn child in any extra danger that was not absolutely necessary to do so.

Yes, I do understand. I don't think it was irrational maybe a little reckless. Maybe it was fight or flight and she decided to fight. You cannot fault her for that.

quote:If you understand, you would know it's not actually self defense.
Yes, I do understand
quote:Did you read the story? You can't read the story and think it was fight or flight. There was no fight, the dude ran the moment he saw her.
Maybe it was fight or flight and she decided to fight.
quote:I'm glad she stuck up for herself, but the way she went about it had a lot of issues. It was not self defense, no matter how you try to spin it, by law it certainly wasn't based on what we know as of now. And she also unnecessarily put her unborn child as well as potentially any others in the parking lot for what she did.
You cannot fault her for that.

I understand your points as well. I have mine you have yours. That's what makes the world go round. Cheers.

Fine. You can keep coming with scenarios that could have been worse but the fact remains that THEY DID NOT HAPPEN. NO ONE else was hurt. What if he ran out in front of someone else BECAUSE SHE WAS CHASING HIM, that car swerved and hit someone. Would you blame her for that too?
The only thing that actually happened, was that HE broke into her car, SHE chased him down and HE was caught.

Never been a driver in a wreck but I've had many speeding tickets in my life. If only I could get out of my speeding tickets by saying "But no one was hurt!"

quote:Process vs results, that's not exactly how the law works. Do you understand that you don't get to do whatever you want just because no one gets hurt, right?

You're literally saying it would not matter
Nope. I said IF does not matter, not IT does not matter. We are talking about what happened, not what may have happened in alternative realities.
Reality is that she ran him down like a dog in the street and got HER purse back. He also got arrested for his actions. Order has been restored when she goes home with her medal.

TIA,
The reality is she was driving reckless through a parking lot. That's a fact based on what we know. That alone shows I'm right. The hypotheticals are for those who have clearly stated she didn't do anything wrong to try and help them see why they're incorrect. Again, process vs results.

The reality is she is pregnant and guided by hormones. We do not know what was in her purse or how badly she needed it. She made a quick decision and I support her in it.
It may have been an empty parking lot. It may have been filled with aliens from the planet Zirconia. Who knows?
Had the thief kept his hands to himself it is a non issue. He holds all responsibility for all events that occurred.

I hate thieves as much as the next guy, but jeez.

Are you really trying to use preggo hormones as an excuse for a woman running a guy down with her vehicle?
Nope. Just stating facts. That and the purse contents importance to her is unknown to us.
Should I join the other side and speculate purely on the presence of elves or shooting non existent guns into crowds that were not gathered?
I think she should go to jail because her car is made of ferrous metal. It may have attracted a magnetic asteroid, causing it to hit some imaginary puppies that weren't there. It was PUPPIES man!!! How can you hate puppies and America?
Sometimes somebody clearly breaks a law. This law may not have really been designed for their situation. The DA should just send them on down the road. That should happen here.

Link to charges of reckless driving or relegate to the "If" pile?

Unless it was another baby in her purse, I doubt
Your doubt is an opinion. We have no way of knowing what was in her purse, or it's importance to her. Another if.

jumping a curb in a parking lot
Did she jump it like Bo and Luke or did she ease over it? Saying Jumped it is a bit premature and kind of iffy.

Uh probably people who watched the video know?
The video that shows that she's in a nearly full parking lot, drives across three parking aisles (using empty parking spaces to get through across aisles) flooring it while someone screams "get out of the way!" in the background
Yeah that video
