Never ceases to amaze me how the "small government" crowd absolutely loves it when something like this happens.

Somehow it doesn't surprise me that you are siding with a thug that pointed a laser sighted pistol at the cops.
... who were breaking into his house at 3am looking for someone else who had a dimebag of weed...

Don't change the argument, anyone with a functioning brain and a firearm would defend their household when someone kicks the door down.
I doubt that, given some of the responses on here. You're talking to someone who definitely wouldn't shoot anyone breaking into his house.

So now it’s ok to break the law as long as he’s in his house? So which is it?
At 16 years old, if someone broke into the house I was absolutely the first line of defense as I was the only person comfortable with using and handling a firearm.
Should that be Illegal? For a 16 year old to defend their home?

As usual with any OT thread involving police action, there’s crucial nuance missing.
Very few if any posters would seriously contend that the officer’s shot, in the moment, was NOT justified.
The problem is that both the dead kid and the officer were put in no-win situations because of the choice by the department to conduct a raid in the middle of the night. Any reasonable person with a right to self-defense would grab a firearm and most reasonable officers conducting such a raid who is confronted by such a reasonable person would shoot to kill. Neither person in that situation acted wrongly, but the situation should never have occurred.

So the cops didn't announce themselves and just kicked in the door?
You need help baw
You need a brain:
1. Criminals can kick your door down and announce themselves as cops
2. At 3am you're asleep and probably don't wake up until they bash the door in
3. Even if they announce and you wake up (at 3am) how would you even know what anyone is saying for 10min?

According to all the "conservatives" here, yes.

It's possible to be a supporter of your local police department yet at the same time, think breaking into someone's house with SWAT for weed possession is absolutely retarded.

Deflection, useful only when you have nothing relevant to say on the current topic.
Also, completely different situation.

Lol. Don’t try to move the goalposts by changing the scenario.
It was a 16 year old with a laser pointer hand gun. It’s illegal for him to even be in possession of the gun. You are pretty dillusional if you believe he sleeps with the gun and he’s not carrying it around on the streets.
What I want to know if the guns found were stolen. That will tell you everything you need to know about this situation.

IIRC, Koresh had warrants, so he should/could have been taken away from the compound.
But if you are raiding a dope house, you kind of need the dope for evidence. The guy is most likely not going to have the evidence on him at Walmart.
Now the details on how they conduct the raid are the where we would find agreement.

Thank you.
I think TD needs to nest replies immediately under the comment they're replying to. maybe that's part of the issue with this conversation, to many disparate discussions being replied to all throughout the thread so if you didn't read from the beginning you likely will miss the context throughout the conversation.

I suspect that when the dust clears and all the details come out, the "defund the po-lice cuz they killin' us" crowd will be even more wrong than usual.
IF I'm wrong, it will be the first time in these matters.

Good luck identifying cops when it’s pitch black, they are dressed in all black, and blind you with their strobing stream lights
