Back in 92' my buddy had a Nizzan 300ZX, we use to cut some serious donuts right in the middle of MLK. There was nothing around at the time. People use to hop on MLK to see how fast they could go.

It can't be any worse than the "turning lane/median/emergency lane" they put in Mathews. Holy Hell!
One can only hope they put a camera on a pole by that roundabout and allow us to watch the videos with Benny Hill playing in the background.

The crotch rocket riders still do. State troopers have a field day with some of these idiots.

Isn't that just a 90 degree turn at the moment? Are has it built up (been some time since I've been there)? Seems like it would make it easier than having to stop for absolutely no reason.
Roundabouts aren't bad except when they are. My parent's neighborhood has one so small it's stupid. It's basically a 4 way stop with a grass patch in the middle disrupting you from driving straight and makes you slightly veer right. No traffic either, so no one actually goes all the way around when needing to take a left. It's like someone just wanted a roundabout and really tried to force it.

The best thing about roundabouts are that we get to learn who the stupid drivers are.

Wasn't it just called Tunnel Blvd Extension back then? This thread got me thinking about when the name officially changed to MLK.

Those things are like kryptonite to Mexicans.

Exactly what is going on with my neighborhood!

That thing is going to be a disaster in Houma.

Good, they are better than 4 ways

It amazes me the people that interpret "yield" to the traffic on the left as just plain "STOP". Pisses me off...

Only complete idiots can't use roundabouts

Sure did use to be Tunnel Extension...... not sure when it was changed but I do remember they had a march.

Sure did, to commemorate the opening of MLK Blvd.

I've always been amazed that one particular street has 4 different names (5 if you count Bayou Gardens) at the same time. I understand the E Tunnel and W Tunnel, but why not just change the whole thing or nothing at all. I know the reasoning at the time was that businesses would have to change their stationary, so only change the name of the relatively undeveloped part of the road (at the time anyway), but it wasn't long after when the area code changed from 504 and we all had to change anyway. So, I think it was a little before that, maybe around the mid 90's?

Is this off equity? frick me. I was wondering what they were doing over there.
